New Series! I hope you like it!

 ”That’s a lie, right…?”

Kazuramichi Naoshi, the young acting head of the prestigious exorcist Kazuramichi family in the West, squinted at the brightness of the sky he casually looked up at, suddenly feeling a flood of memories return.

It’s the same Japan, the same year, with only the difference in the era names of Reiwa and Reiwa, but the history followed is almost the same──however, there are no exorcists or ayakashi, and supernatural powers exist only in legends and fiction, memories of living in such a peaceful world.

For Naoshi, who had been training hard since childhood and had to kill youma and living beings before turning ten, those memories were, in a way, enviable, but more than that, they were bothersome.

Even if those memories increased, there would be no change in his dedication to protecting the nation and its people, both in the past and the future.

There was nothing that could dull Naoshi’s resolve to live as an exorcist.

Normally, they would be just a troublesome extra burden, nothing more.

 But, there was one point.

”──Ain’t this the world of that r*pe erotic game?”

The era name Reiwa, the bureau of Onmyō that still exists today, ayakashi, exorcists──these elements remind him of a famous game title known for its internet memes.

”If that’s the case, I’m either gonna be a side character or get kicked out early…!”

And if that concern is correct, as promised, he closes his eyes to the possibility that a terrible future awaits him for the sake of the usual conventions of creations…

* * *

Kazuramichi Naoshi, 23 years old. Single.

He is the heir of the prestigious Kazuramichi family in Osaka and a first-class exorcist, already leading his clan as the acting head.

Born with the power expected from his lineage, he has blossomed into an elite among elites as desired.

In recent generations, due to the emergence of exceptional individuals called masterpieces or mutations from other families, even among the younger generation, they are not called the strongest in Japan, but they hold that title in their local Kansai region.

That person was a man named Kazuramichi Naoshi.

However, when it comes to evaluating his character, the opinion changes drastically.

Perhaps because he was blessed with a good environment and power, he lacked empathy for the weak, and his stoicism as an exorcist led him to judge others’ failures as mere laziness or weakness.

His natural tendency to be straightforward, combined with a good upbringing, created a terrible synergy, and many saw his rude behavior as arrogance born from talent and youth.

And it wasn’t all just misunderstandings.

Kazuramichi Naoshi sincerely sought strength as an exorcist and had a genuine will to fulfill his duties, but it was entirely possible for him to also be an arrogant and unpleasant scumbag without contradiction.

His fox-like face, which gave a cold and sarcastic impression, along with his straw-colored hair, pale skin, and slender tall figure, further reinforced this negative image.

In other words, Naoshi is the kind of character who would gather hate early on in a fictional world as a “suspicious-looking, unpleasantly flawed powerhouse,” or he would be the type to show off on the hero’s side only to end up as a ‘stepping stone’ later on.

 Additionally, another possibility suddenly emerged.

There is a chance that this world is, after all, very faithful to “conventions of creations,” similar to a certain modern fantasy-style erotic game.

The hint comes from one of the internet memes that made that work famous, which depicted people battling ayakashi during the ‘Reiwa’ era──”Head Exorcist.”

In other words, the bureau of Onmyō and the upper echelons of each family are stuck in a hellish internal struggle, trying to take each other down for power. Because of this, the main characters, who are low-ranking exorcists, often find themselves in trouble due to a lack of proper support and their reckless, muscle-headed moves.

This situation is similar to what Naoshi knows about the current state of things.

Especially the death rate of exorcists and the high number of assault cases caused by ayakashi are so extreme that it feels like it belongs in a different genre.

He has heard that the internal struggles in games are so bad that it’s surprising the organizations even exist, so things are definitely better now, but we can’t let our guard down.

Even aside from ayakashi-related issues, He remembers encountering many “conventions of creations” from stories in real life.

He has seen young men and women bump into each other at a crossroads more than once, and it’s not rare to find middle and high school students living alone, away from their parents.

There’s always at least one girl in every school treated like an idol, and he even know someone who has a caring childhood friend who comes to wake them up.

Come to think of it, the scandal about the top young exorcist being pursued by his younger sister and cousin was accepted without much surprise.

These things weren’t common in peaceful Japan.

Even if they were happening, they wouldn’t be easily known by others.

And if these “conventions of creations” exist, the chances of Naoshi, who has been acting all high and mighty, facing some painful consequences are very high.

To begin with, even his name looks bad.

Aspiring to walk the path of “Kuzu (Kazu)” (trash) straight ahead? That just makes him trash. The last name can’t be helped, but the first name was probably given by his parents with good intentions. Now, though, it feels like some kind of ominous hint.

It’s like fate is saying, “You’re in that position!” It clearly feels like a waiting game for him to realize it.

 He had to do something.

Specifically, he needed to change his way of living, even just a little.

 Starting tomorrow, no, right now──
