Volume 1 Chapter 43 True Form Result: Sometimes Without Knowing Anything

He looked really tired, just like she thought.

After finishing the bare minimum of cleaning up, he lay back and started to snore. Mibu Itsuki quietly smiled at his face.

Watching Naoshi, who had become a man, she felt sleepy too from the unusual exercise, the strange tiredness, and a bit of pain.

 ”I lost, huh…”

As she thought about it, the words slipped out.

 She couldn’t win.

After waiting so long for a chance and daring to challenge him, her sword didn’t reach him.

 Eight years, huh.

She remembered that day 8 years ago when it felt like only he and she existed in the world, with a passionate and urgent gaze. She didn’t even need to try to remember it; it was always in her heart.

Looking back now, she thought she might have already fallen in love back then, no matter the outcome.

 That’s why she challenged him.

To make him look at her, and only her, again.

 But she lost.

 Still, strangely, she felt refreshed.

If she had won this time, she might have been able to keep him all to herself in the future.

While she felt a bit sad about that, she also thought that the only moment she really wanted to redo was that one time, long ago.

Kazuramichi Naoshi had put everything on the line to become the person he wanted to be, challenging her with all his heart as a goal to overcome.

No one else could have wanted or thought about him as much as she did.

No matter who Naoshi ends up with or who he holds, that fact would never change.

Thinking that way, she could accept whatever happens next.

Being one of his lovers as a loser wasn’t so bad.

Honestly, she felt a different kind of joy and pride in being wanted as his woman, unlike that day.

Maybe she wasn’t feeling down about losing because now she could act as a woman by his side without holding back.

She didn’t have to pretend anymore.

Naoshi might have called her “mentally unstable” for that, but she guessed she just had to accept her own fate.

”You’re the one who made me like this, Naoshi…”

What she said wasn’t a complaint, but a playful remark.

She lifted her head from his arm, which she was using as a pillow, and moved closer to him.

She gently placed her hand on his chest, which rose and fell softly with each breath.

She felt happiness and peace from his warmth and heartbeat.

 ”Mm…”

The warmth she felt was similar to when she was a child, being held by her parents.

That warmth spread through her as she touched him, and she let go of her consciousness in the arms of the man she loved.

 ──Same day, same time.

In her room, a girl opened her laptop and hurriedly typed on the keyboard. When her phone rang, she quickly grabbed it.

 ”──Hello?’

Her voice was lively, and a smile appeared on her face.

’Ako, sorry for calling so late. Are you free now?’

”Yes, of course, Papa──Is it about Umeda?”

She slightly closed her eyes, enjoying the calm tenor of her father’s voice, then quickly gave the answer he probably wanted.

’Ahh, I think you know the circumstances…’

”Yes, I’m aware of the situation. It’s a bit tricky for us and Shiun-san.’

’Right. Especially Naoshi has always left these things to me, but with Mizuho and Yoshitada involved, it’s becoming a burden for the Shiun family.’

She wasn’t sure of all the details, but her mother and brother’s actions clearly weren’t helping the Kazuramichi family.

It wasn’t good for anyone if Kazuramichi Yoshiya, the husband and father, didn’t take any responsibility and acted as the family’s representative.

But sadly, there weren’t many people in Kazuramichi who could take over.

”I’ve already prepared to return to Osaka immediately. I’ve also spoken to Aunt Yoko about it.”

’I’m sorry for the sudden news, but Naoshi will probably contact you soon…’

”It’s fine. Uncle and Papa are busy, and I can’t just lounge around doing bride training.”

 ’… Yeah, yeah. I understand.’

”By the way, what do grandpa and the others in Niigata say? ‘That guy’ has no one else to rely on.”

Her question, directed at her mother (that guy), was cold and dry, her tone completely different from how she addressed her father or Naoshi. Her father’s reply was somber.

’──Yes, I received a call from Mizuho. She said she had to return home due to an emergency with father. As for Yoshitada… he’s not involved.’

 ”Oh, I see.”

 It was a forced excuse.

There was no way that woman would leave home without telling her father, much less neglect her brother.

And Ako, whose blood was even more intense than her mother’s in terms of romantic attachment, was certain of it. That love was primarily directed toward her lover or partner and their child.

No, it’s more accurate to say it was directed at no one else.

”You could leave it to Uncle, and he’d make sure nothing bad happens.”

’I told him the same, but he wouldn’t listen. Yoshitada probably didn’t directly participate, so it’s even more unnecessary.’

”He still hasn’t grown up. To trouble Uncle with this…”

’Ako, let me tell you… This time, it’s up to Naoshi’s judgment. Don’t be hasty.’

”──Yes, of course. We won’t trouble the two of you in any way.”

’Yeah, I believe you. Then take care on your trip back.’

 ”Good night, Papa.”

 ’Good night, Ako.’

After the call ended, Ako cradled her smartphone as if it were a precious item.

She hugged it for a full two minutes before calling up the home screen again.

There was Kazuramichi Naoshi, with an awkward expression on his face.

”Wait for me, Uncle Naoshi. I’ll be right by your side soon…”
