Volume 4 Chapter 70 Paw
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The humiliation continued. Young women surrounded me. There I was, exposed on the examination table. They picked and peeled with cooking chopsticks and tweezers, turning me into their teaching material.
And that bastard Karl just had to drag it out—instead of sticking to syphilis, he went on and on about genital warts and yeast infections.
”If you find that kind of wart on your partner’s p**is, please make sure they get treatment. It can heal on its own sometimes, but if you ignore it… well, your d**k might just turn into a cauliflower.”
Every time he gave an instruction, Karl tapped my junk with those cooking chopsticks. I tried to escape, but once you’re on that examination table, your hip joints lock up. And I’m not flexible enough to get down on my own. It was humiliating. Anything I said would’ve just made it worse, so I kept my mouth shut.
I wondered if they taught like this using women’s crotches too. The thought crossed my mind briefly. More importantly, concentrating to avoid getting an erection from all the chopstick and tweezer stimulation was exhausting.
”Alright, let’s move on to treatment,” Karl announced, leaving me behind and walking to the blackboard.
”Um… my hips really hurt. Please, could you let me down?” I begged in a pathetic voice barely above a whisper.
”Ah, right. Can’t get down yourself? Alan, help him down,” Karl said.
Finally—but a few students or research students groaned with disappointment. Sadists, the lot of them, I thought. The only other man besides Karl approached and adjusted the supports under my legs, finally freeing me.
”Today we have observers, so let’s review mana basics and syphilis treatment. I want my students to listen as review,” Karl explained.
Observers? I asked Alan—the man who’d helped me off the table—and he explained that the visitors were students from Kure’s Youth Academy, here to take the Magic Academy entrance exams at year-end.
”They’re the ones everyone’s confident will pass straight into the Academy. Every lab wants to recruit talented kids, so they all host open houses,” Alan said.
Everyone’s working hard. Wait a minute—Kure’s Youth Academy—isn’t that the one Louise is principal of? They saw me with my crotch spread open in front of their students? Give me a break, seriously.
”Now, everyone knows that mana exists as monomers—we used to just call them monomers—and up to nine-mers, correct?” Karl asked.
The students nodded.
Incidentally, only Elf Mages can generate up to nine-mers. Humans, Dwarves, and the Androgynos Group can only produce up to pentamers. Amazonesses can only manage dimers—and even then, just the generation, not the manipulation for things like fireballs.
”The one who advanced monomer technology and contributed to our nation’s industrial development is none other than Larry, the former Associate Professor who so kindly helped us with today’s lesson. Applause, please,” Karl announced.
I don’t need applause. Don’t out me after I had my junk on display. This is mortifying.
And yet, the three youngest girls—almost childlike—stared at me with sparkling, adoring eyes. Please stop. Big bro can’t handle that right now, I thought desperately.
”Now for dimers. They exist not only in living things but also in inorganic matter. The resonance systems magic that surveys mineral deposits by examining regional distribution patterns, and the synchronization-type magic used to animate golems—these both utilize dimers. Recently, dimers have also been applied in medical magic. What uses are they being put to?” Karl asked.
One of the sparkling trio raised her hand, and Karl pointed at her.
”Yes! The nervous system and psychiatry! Professor Larry Fee Getys pioneered that—that’s what Principal Louise taught us!” the girl chirped.
It was actually Yutia’s dystonia and Katri’s depression research, but… did Louise tell them that? I thought. Well, hearing that does make me a little proud.
I could even think that now, thanks to having my pants back on and a bit of mental breathing room.
”Correct! Excellent answer. Young lady, I’d love to have you join our Third Laboratory. And you know, Larry and I are great friends. How about joining us for lunch?” Karl offered.
Using me as bait again, huh? Fine, whatever, I thought.
The sparkling trio seemed thrilled, though I couldn’t help but feel the other students and teachers were somewhat… cooler toward them.
Unconcerned, Karl called Alan over and whispered something in his ear. Alan hurried out of the room. Making a reservation somewhere, I guess, I mused.
”Now for trimers. They’re used in Librarian systems, but also—and more commonly—in medical magic. Not just the linear three-mana strands used for scrapes and minor cuts, but the triangular forms are antibacterial, so we use those simultaneously. Also common is their use in internal medicine for patients with weakened digestive systems,” Karl explained.
Makes sense. I learned the core basics of mana at Bizan’s Magic School, but since there were mostly Librarian system professors there, I never heard about internal medicine applications, I reflected.
”From tetramers onward, they’re almost exclusively medical,” Karl continued.
The tetramer level introduces more connection patterns: linear, Y-shaped, regular tetrahedron, square, and triangle-with-string. The linear form is used for tissue bonding and surgery, but also for thyroid, pancreas, liver, and spleen insufficiency. The Y-shape addresses overactive organs, tumors, cancers, and ringworm treatment. The tetrahedron is the most stable three-dimensional mana structure and is used for tissue replacement, though quantities are limited. The square and triangle-with-string serve antibacterial purposes—Elf Mage texts mention historical use for syphilis, but with no significant effect.
Pentamers have even more varieties. But since the quantities are drastically reduced, usage is highly specialized, so Karl skipped all explanations except the pentagon form.
”According to Elf Mage and Androgynos Group texts, pentagonal mana is considered most effective for syphilis. However, the administration method is quite specific. Can anyone explain?” Karl inquired.
Darina raised her hand. Karl paused, waiting to see if anyone else would, then called her name with a hint of embarrassment. Finding it awkward, is he? As if he’s so pure, I thought.
”Polygons larger than squares normally only enter the body through mucous membranes. Additionally, pentamers can only be administered when simultaneously infused with dimer mana flow,” Darina explained.
So that’s how it works. Granny Ferris did something similar before—using multimer mana riding on dimer flow. I think she said that without the flow, my own mana would backflow and prevent treatment, I recalled.
”This means you place a finger in the patient’s mouth while simultaneously touching their cheek or neck, creating a dimer mana flow to administer the pentagonal mana,” Karl elaborated.
”The key point to remember,” Darina continued, “is that you must gradually increase the dimer flow. Administering it suddenly will cause the patient significant pain.”
I’ve experienced that, I thought grimly. That sudden burst hurt like hell.
”Some patients might try to lick your finger or bite down playfully,” Karl warned. “If that happens, just hit ’em with a solid burst of dimer.”
Huh? I thought, surprised at the relatively mild-mannered Karl making such an aggressive statement. Is it because Darina’s here?
But I couldn’t help imagining it. Lying down, fingers in my mouth…
”Please raise your hand if it hurts,” a seductive older nurse would say—looking up only to have my face hidden by her breasts.
That’d be lucky, wouldn’t it? Wait… is that lucky like a lucky dentist visit?
Hold on. What if one of those seductive older nurses was Karl’s mistress? That might explain his earlier extreme comment.
I remembered Darina apparently had a child, so maybe Karl indulged during some period of abstinence? It’s infuriating, but Karl is handsome, after all. Even Larry—who definitely wasn’t handsome in his past life—had his escapades.
”Now, regarding dosage intervals—there are differing opinions,” Karl continued. “Two methods are being studied: administering a large dose once daily, versus continuous administration throughout the day. No conclusion has been reached yet.”
As expected of the Androgynos Group, filled with reincarnated people. Were they testing PK/PD theory? But the last syphilis epidemic was a hundred years ago. Probably not, I considered.
”Finally, confirming infection and cure…”
This I need to hear, I thought.
”For infection confirmation, currently, there’s no definitive method. For symptomatic individuals, we trace their movements and monitor those they’ve had contact with—either through isolation or supervision to prevent sexual relations,” Karl explained.
That’s all they’ve got? I thought with disappointment.
”Incidentally, Larry here is suspected of infection because he had sexual relations with someone who had relations with a symptomatic individual. As we observed earlier, there are no visible symptoms on his genitals, but that doesn’t clear him yet. Ah!” Karl suddenly exclaimed.
What? I thought, startled. What’s “Ah”?
”Hey, let me see your mouth,” Karl demanded.
”What’s wrong?” I asked.
”You kissed that Amazoness, didn’t you?” Karl pressed.
Uh, yeah. That’s, uh, true, I admitted mentally.
Wait just a minute, Mr. Karl. You just said “Amazoness” out loud. You’re supposed to keep that quiet! I thought frantically.
The women’s gazes toward me noticeably changed.
My mouth showed no symptoms.
”Um,” one of the students asked, “even if there are symptoms inside the mouth, do you still insert your finger for treatment?”
Probably not a concern, I thought, but Karl advised sterilizing with alcohol afterward anyway, citing the risk of other diseases.
As for measuring treatment effectiveness, Elf Mage texts supposedly recommended monitoring pentagonal mana concentration in urine. Initially, concentration fluctuates regardless of infection status, but gradually stabilizes—if stable for one week, the patient can be considered cured.
A discussion followed. Karl informed the teachers and students that Kingdom Office had issued a special directive—a medical relief team was to be dispatched to areas where syphilis was likely to spread.
Having apparently predetermined the roster, Karl appointed himself captain, Alan as vice captain, two seductive research students, and two teenage female students. No one objected or looked displeased at his instructions to assemble tomorrow morning.
”This mission’s unique because we’re dealing specifically with syphilis. Expect this to be a long one—at least two months. Meals and lodging provided. But since temperatures might be high, bring summer clothes too,” Karl directed.
The selected team responded with crisp “Yes, sir!” to the additional instructions.
They were dismissed to prepare, while the remainder would handle afternoon clinic duties.
”Busy day, huh,” I commented to Darina, who happened to be nearby.
”Just a typical day for us,” she replied flatly.
”Is Marie here?” I asked.
She’s a professor now, having taken over my old room. I’d planned to visit her later, but Darina gave no answer, simply walking away from me. Cold, I thought.
”Alright, observers, I’ve secured a good restaurant, so let’s head out! Larry, you’re coming too,” Karl announced with suspicious familiarity.
Fine, whatever, I thought, resigning myself.
Accompanied by the three observers, Karl and I descended the stairs of the Third Medical Ward.
”It’s a place known for great pasta,” Karl said cheerfully to the visitors.
I wanted to warn him that laying it on too thick could backfire, I thought.
”Um,” one of the young observers asked suddenly, “when exactly did you meet Principal Louise?”
I froze at the unexpected question. The first time I’d met her was during the Vod Fortress campaign—in Linto’s field hospital, leaving nothing but trauma. What do I say?
By the time I’d managed to deflect with vague answers, we’d reached the bottom of the stairs. Karl was inexplicably gone. The young visitor girls also stopped in their tracks.
Following their gazes forward, I saw Marie standing there. With an expression that could kill.
”Hey, Marie, long time no—”
I didn’t even finish the greeting before—CRACK—I received a slap strong enough to spark stars in my eyes.
”You absolute IDIOT!” Marie screamed, slapping me left, right, and center again.
”Professor Karl, I’m borrowing him!” she shouted.
My eyes were swelling so badly I could barely see Karl or the visitors. Marie grabbed my arm and dragged me into the garden next to the arcade.
”Sit,” she commanded.
I saw what looked like a flowerbed curb and started to sit down—only to get kicked.
”Not there. HERE,” she said, kicking the ground.
I tried to cross my legs—another kick. So I knelt, seiza-style, just like a proper dog. Only then did Marie sit on the curb I’d tried to claim.
”Paw,” she demanded.
I placed my hand in her outstretched palm like a good boy.
”Sorry, it was a secret mission,” I tried to explain through telepathy.
My eyelids were swelling, making it harder to see, but I could tell people were watching us from a distance. I needed to sort this out quickly.
”Shut yer mouth!” came the telepathic reply, but something felt off. Can she read my mind now? I don’t remember Marie being able to do that.
”Hmph! Messin’ around with an Amazoness got ya into this mess, didn’t it!”
Wait, she can actually read my mind now? I thought frantically.
”Then ya went an’ got tangled up with that nasty Katarina too!”
Well, Marie knows Katarina, so that’s plausible. She’s been nasty since the start, I conceded.
”Then ya went an’ bought out a slave, and on top of that, ya got your hands on her!”
Alyona, she means. That just… happened, I thought defensively.
”Ugh, and a Virgin Dwarf too! Yer absolutely shameless!”
It’s not like I wanted to, okay? It was more like… well, it just sort of happened, I rationalized.
But then—
”Argh, I can’t stand it! I always knew ya were a hopeless degenerate. But now ya’ve even gone after a boy! Argh, there’s just no helpin’ it!”
Wait, that’s a Male-bride who just happens to look young! It’s just Amazoness adolescence! I protested mentally.
”Shut yer mouth!”
Yes ma’am, I thought obediently. But—
A sharp, prickling emotion suddenly transmitted through the connection.
”And Maria—that pregnant married woman! Her husband was someone who helped ya out! What the hell were ya thinkin’?”
If she’d said it aloud, it would have been low and barely contained.
It wasn’t like I made the first move! She’s got more mana than me, and I couldn’t resist anyway, I thought. Not like she’d listen to that excuse.
Then Marie finally realized—
”Wait. Wait. Wait. Yer tellin’ me ya laid a hand on the Witch of the Black Forest? Hexa des Schwarzwalds?!”
Marie was so shocked she let go of my hand and fell backward over the curb into the flowerbed.
Major Sonya, you mean, I thought. I didn’t lay a hand on her—it was the other way around. And I value my life, okay?
They all just happened, okay? It’s not like I’m some kind of degenerate. …Probably.

Summary:
Larry survives humiliating medical demonstration as STI teaching aid, endures Karl’s sadistic lecture, and gets dragged into Marie’s jealous interrogation where she mind-reads his entire romantic history. She lists every partner from Amazoness to Witch of the Black Forest, culminating in her physically falling backward from shock. Larry ends the chapter in self-deluding denial about his degeneracy.
