Volume 3 Chapter 14 Risa’s Departure Day
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Hey, here’s Risa-sensei’s stuff. Please take care of it.”
When Yuki-san brought the bags, the two people I was talking to said, “Well then,” and left. I thanked Yuki-san and took the bags.
”So, we’re going to the airport to see Risa-sensei off, right?”
”…That’s the plan, but if I go back home to drop off Risa-san’s bags and do other things, I might not make it in time.”
As we walked with the bags, I talked to Yuki-san. I might get the info I really want right now.
”Don’t worry. Risa-sensei’s flight to New York is supposed to leave from Haneda around noon.”
”Really?!”
Noon means──
There aren’t many direct flights from Haneda. I might be able to figure out which flight Risa is taking.
”Is it around 11 o’clock?”
I guessed based on what Yuki-san said and tried to find out more.
”Yeah… it’s a flight that leaves at exactly 11:00 for New York. Actually, when Risa-sensei came by yesterday, she was really busy and could only say a quick hello. So, can you tell her, ‘Good luck, I’m coming to visit’?”
”Got it.”
After that conversation, I said goodbye to Yuki-san in front of the hospital’s security door. Then I hurried back home from the hospital. I left the bags in the entrance hall and rushed to my room on the second floor.
I grabbed my folded loungewear from the bed and the phone charger from the bedside table, then went into the walk-in closet.
I took out any sharp objects, gels, creams, and sprays from the travel bag I used when I visited Risa’s house, tossing them on the floor.
I checked the bag to see if that passport, which I thought I didn’t need, was still inside. After confirming it was there, I stuffed my loungewear and charger into the bag and left the room.
When I got to the airport, since I didn’t have a credit card, I quickly withdrew the maximum cash from my bank account.
(11:00 flight from Haneda, direct to New York…)
I checked my phone for Risa’s flight and headed to the airline’s counter. It’s not always easy to catch Risa at the airport like in movies and dramas.
They recommend checking in 2 hours early, so she probably isn’t in the departure lobby. She must have already gone inside. If I want to definitely catch her, I’ll have to do it in the air.
I bought a ticket with cash and checked in. I didn’t stop at all during this time──if I paused for even a moment, I knew my urge to chase after Risa would fade away.
I understood my own personality well enough to know I had to keep this crazy obsession in check.
(Since the bag is small enough for carry-on, I don’t need to check it.)
I headed to the departure procedures.
