Volume 3 Chapter 16 Things I Didn’t Know

”Eh? What? Why is Shuu here?”
When I turned around while sitting, I saw Risa-san looking confused. I felt relieved that I got to see her earlier than I thought.
”Do you know her?”
The kind lady sitting next to me, who had been talking to me, asked. I nodded and said, “Yeah.”
”That’s good. But if you have any problems, feel free to contact me, okay? If you don’t have a place to stay, you can stay in my room.”
She spoke softly, just loud enough for me to hear, and then she patted my right arm before getting up.
”Well then.”
She took her hard case and walked towards the line forming in front of the gate.
”Um, Shuu, who was that person?”
Risa-san asked me after staring blankly at the lady for a while.
”I don’t know.”
”You don’t know? …What?!”
”She talked to me here 30 minutes ago. She gave me her business card and said she could help if I needed anything.”
I showed Risa-san the business card I was holding, and her expression changed to one of concern.
”Shuu, where are you going?”
”Where? To the place Risa-san is going.”
”What?!”
Risa-san shouted and quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Then, she asked me in a quieter voice, “Really…? Are you coming with me?”
”Is your flight the direct one to New York that leaves at 11:00?”
”Yeah.”
”Since our seats are probably far apart, I’d like to meet up somewhere when we arrive.”
”…”
Risa-san went silent. Why? She looked happy, but maybe she really didn’t want me to go with her.
”Can I borrow your ticket for a bit?”
”My ticket? Sure, but it’s almost time to board.”
”I’ll give it back right away, please.”
She asked seriously. Not really understanding, I took the plane ticket out from my passport and handed it to Risa-san.
”Thanks. Shuu, stay here, okay? Don’t talk to strangers anymore.”
Don’t talk to strangers? I’m not a kid. What is Risa-san worried about?
A few minutes later──
I don’t know how Risa-san did it, but my seat got upgraded from economy to business class. Plus, I was now sitting next to Risa-san.
”I’m so worried. I hope everything is okay… You just sat on a bench in the lobby and got hit on.”
Risa-san said this in a grumpy tone, almost like she was talking to herself during priority boarding.
(Hit on? I don’t remember that happening.)
”What are you talking about…”
”Shuu, that business card you got!”
”Oh, this? Risa-san, do you want it?”
”I don’t want it… Actually, I do want it.”
I handed Risa-san the business card with the handwritten contact info.
”If you’re giving it to me, can I do whatever I want with it?”
”Yeah, that’s fine.”
It seemed like Risa-san didn’t like me having that card. The frown on her face disappeared. She would probably throw it away.
But… was that really someone hitting on me? Was it not just someone trying to help?
But still… no matter how nice someone is, they wouldn’t let a guy stay in their hotel room alone, right?
I remembered that when Risa-san helped me, Yuki-san was also in the room. If it was someone hitting on me, it was really hard to tell. I finally understood why Risa-san was worried.
