Volume 13 Chapter 14 Dragonbone Mountain

*Rosvita’s perspective
After finishing preparations for the hunt in Lindblum, we arrived at Dragonbone Mountain, where the undead army roamed, and immediately set out to eliminate the scattered skeletons below us.
They often grouped in packs of 2 to 30, usually led by a skeleton warrior.
As soon as they spotted the monsters, the Dragonewts dove down like hunting dogs finding prey, smashing the skeletons to bits with their powerful charges.
”Everyone is so fired up… I hope they leave a little for me.”
Riding on a Dragonewt’s back and observing the combat, Lady Delprius seemed eager to jump into the fray as the skeletons were quickly crushed, but she was sticking to our agreement and focusing on command this time.
”Lady Delprius’s time will come during the exploration of that ancient ruin. Until then, as a king, I believe it’s wise to let my subordinates have their battles.”
”I understand that… Tell the Dragonewts to fight to their heart’s content.”
It’s like Lady Delprius inherited her father’s nature; she loves to fight, but she’s also quite empathetic to her subordinates, understanding their feelings very well, especially since she herself enjoys combat.
”That’s the kind of words you’d expect from the king of the Black Dragon Clan. The Dragonewts will surely fight with joy.”
I shouted Lady Delprius’s words to the Dragonewts in a loud voice, and they all erupted into cheers.
”Long live our king Lady Delprius of the Black Dragon clan!!!”
The Dragonewts, pumped full of fighting spirit, spread out over the Dragonbone Mountain range with its 3-thousand-meter peaks, hunting for enemies. Whenever they found the skeletons spilling out of the ruins, they crushed them without mercy.
”Leave those skeletons crawling outside to the Dragonewts. We, the Dragonia, will head to that ruin directly.”
”Got it, understood!”
We parted ways with the Dragonewts and changed course toward the ruins where it all began.
Since the Dragonia are human-sized, they can slip inside the ruins, so they’re the Exploration Squad for this place where the undead army is pouring out.
Ludmila’s with us, and the team is made of the strongest Dragonia fighters, so unless some mega-strong enemy shows up, there’s no way we’ll lose.

When we reached the spot the Dragonewts scouted out and reported on, we saw a temple-like ruin packed with skeletons squirming below.
”Lady Delprius, this must be the source ruin.”
”They’re crawling all over… my arms are itching to fight.”
Lady Delprius’s eyes sparkled as she looked down at the sea of skeletons.
Then she jumped off the Dragonewt she was riding and plunged right into the horde of skeletons.
”Let’s not fall behind Lady Delprius! Follow her lead!”
I followed Lady Delprius and dropped down onto the ground.

*Delprius’s Perspective
I arrived at the creepy ruins where the undead army swarms and jumped off the Dragonewt, landing among the huddling skeletons.
The ground I landed on was thick with magic element so heavy I could almost choke, even though I have no magic power myself.
”The magic element is disgustingly dense… What the hell did they make a place like this for?”
Grimacing at the thick magic in the air, I glanced around and saw a horde of skeletons rushing at me, trying to kick out intruders.
The skeletons were armed with rusty swords and shields, but their movements were slow and clumsy, not even worth my serious attention.
”Just the right amount of shoulder warm-up, I see. Shall I give it a light twist before Rosvita stops me?”
I decided to defeat the incoming skeleton for my warm-up exercises.
First, I used the [Fighting Spirit Technique] to boost my physical attack power, then charged at the leading skeleton and unleashed a straight punch at its sternum.
The skeleton that took the hit shattered into pieces, literally ground to dust.
”A bit too soft, I see.”
The hostile gaze of the pulverized skeleton allies concentrated on me.
Bathed in their stares, my spine tingled with delight, and I couldn’t help but lick my lips.
”Do these skeletons have any backbone? I shall test them. Come at me without hesitation, as many as you like.”
Taunting them with a “huff” and waving my hand, the enraged skeleton with the raised sword charged at me.
I dodged the attack immediately and shattered the skeleton’s hip bone with my fist.
The skeleton with the shattered hip bone lost support for its upper body and collapsed to the ground.
”Not much of a match, are they?”
Stepping on the skull of the collapsed skeleton, the other bones that were twitching stopped moving as if they had met their end.
The utterly crushed skeleton allies, with their eye sockets now empty, glowed red from within and swarmed me all at once.
”Come then. This will save me some trouble.”
I slipped through the forest of descending blades and, with a leap and a roundhouse kick, sent the skeleton’s skull flying.
”Delprius, how long do you intend to play? Clean this up at once.”
While playing with the skeletons, a voice called out from behind.
Turning around, I saw Ludmila standing there with a large war hammer.
”Ludmila! Wait! Not yet, it’s too soon!”
Ludmila, in her armored form, readied her war hammer and made a Sudden Rush towards the gathering skeletons, casually swinging the massive chunk of steel and slaughtering them.
”Ah, aaah… my fun is being… ruined. Ludmila is so mean.”
”A ruler who delights in fighting such enemies still has much training to do.”
Ludmila swung around a massive chunk of steel, crushing the skeletons with a half-smile on her face.
She’s definitely enjoying this…
”Hah, I won’t lose to Ludmila… I will be the first to conquer the ruins!”
I left Ludmila behind and sprinted toward the ruins.
But a skeleton warrior equipped with armor blocked my path.
They were better equipped than the regular skeletons, moving as smoothly as a human.
The sharp tip of the skeleton warrior’s sword grazed my face.
”Looks like some real bones have come out to play.”
I dodged the sword by a hair’s breadth and slowly closed the distance.
The moment I found my range, I dove in and struck with my fist, sharpened like a triangle, against its armor.
There was a loud crack as the armor shattered.
”Success with [Armor Break]. Master Eclair said it’s meant for fighting people, but it works on monsters too!”
The skeleton warrior, armor destroyed, tried to retreat, but I wouldn’t allow it. I launched a full-force punch.
The punch shattered the skeleton warrior’s bones, and it crumbled to the ground.
”Not enough yet. Where are the stronger ones?”
I kicked the remains of the skeleton warrior and took off again toward the ruins.
As I ran toward the ruins, I glanced around and saw members of the Dragonia faction battling skeletons and skeleton warriors, with beams of [Dragon Breath] shining all around.
