Volume 14 Chapter 27 Felward Air Operations, Part II

Is this what they call the rebellious phase? Damn it, Kent. You didn’t just take Delprius’s purity, you stripped away her dad’s respect too.

Dee’s unexpected reaction had snuffed out my hard-won excitement.

As I slumped over, staring at the ground, Ugno, leading the ground assault team, was marching towards Felward Fortress. Meanwhile, the weapon developer for Margrave South District nation was dropping special bombs on the ‘another world monsters’. These bombs were an upgraded version of the magic bullets, packing more punch and size, with Magicians stuffing them full of wide-range Attack Magic.

Once the bombs hit the ground, they burst open with the trapped Attack Magic, swallowing up the surrounding monsters and reducing them to ash. A massive cloud of black smoke billowed up. I was drafted to help make those bombs, along with high-ranking mages like Lina, Flamil, Carlamia, and Feria, all working to infuse them with powerful magic.

”Ugh. Even up here, the smoke is so thick it feels like magic element intoxication.”

The black fog from the magic bombs was rising everywhere on the ground. The mana carried by the wind was getting so dense it was hard to bear for bodies that had used up their magic. Meanwhile, the Black Dragon Clan members didn’t get mana sickness because, as Fabulanova said, they had bodies without magic.

”Still, that magic bomb is some fierce stuff. They said they made normal magic more efficient, but if that gets used on people, the whole country could vanish.”

”Don’t worry about it. Margrave South District nation will scrap this weapon after the war, Kent made that clear. Of course, our country has no intention of having such inhumane weapons either. The development materials will be destroyed, and Kent will take responsibility for managing the developers. Plus, no other country could even understand the principles behind it.”

Fabulanova came over and spilled the beans on Kent’s deal about the magic bombs.

 ”You think Ugno wants it?”

”No, Ugno’s a warrior. He avoids this weapon. He wants to fight with his own strength. In that sense, he’s like you.”

”Sure, it’s an efficient way to kill enemies, but it’s no fun.”

”Yaalan would love to use it, though. Kent was worried and hesitated to use it in this counterattack because of that.”

Below, the bombs showed their overwhelming power, wiping out the ‘other world monsters’ and clearing the way for Kent and Shifa’s ground forces.

Ammo’s low, but with Ugno, it’s just a matter of time before he carves a path for Kent’s team. Plus, the Nokins are doing a good job luring the enemies away. The density is way down.

From high above, they could see the movements of the ‘other world monsters’ surrounding Felward. If the operation went smoothly, they might even be able to send Kent’s Elite Troops to the Abyss Gate with less damage than expected.

”New enemy in the sky! What is that? Its size is off! Aaaghhhh!!”

The Black Dragon Clan reported the new enemy, then bathed in light and vanished. Looking up at the light, they saw a group of silver jellyfish, each over a hundred meters long, floating there.

The silver jellyfish started to electrify the light.

 ”Danger! Scatter, everyone!”

Feeling the danger, I told the gathered Black Dragon Clan to scatter. But it was too late. The light’s particles pierced the backs and wings of the young dragons trying to disperse.

Pierced by the light, the Black Dragon Clan members died horribly and fell to the ground.

”Everyone! Get higher!! If you stay down, you’ll be food for those jellyfish! Even if the air gets thin and hard to breathe, you must rise above them!”

Dee, realizing the threat of the silver jellyfish, gave further orders to the Black Dragon Clan to climb higher. Following Dee’s instructions, the Black Dragon Clan flapped their wings, aiming for higher altitudes, above the area where the silver jellyfish were hovering.

”Hey! They’re coming again! Get ready to dodge!”

I was climbing higher with the Black Dragon Clan, but the swarm of silver jellyfish was starting to charge again, glowing with electricity. Light burst from them, but this time, instead of the earlier beams, they released countless glowing orbs the size of fists into the air. Any Black Dragon Clan who touched the orbs was engulfed in explosive flames, losing their lift and falling to the ground below.

”Dammit! Don’t touch those orbs! They’ll explode! Weave through the spots with low density! Don’t die here, you hear me? If you die on your own, Dee’s coming to drag you to hell!”

The Black Dragon Clan near me dodged the glowing orbs, cutting through the space between them and climbing even higher. But despite the warning, some couldn’t avoid the orbs, and they were consumed in explosions, falling to the ground.

After many losses, we reached an altitude higher than the silver jellyfish, but what we thought would be a safe zone turned out to be another deadly trap. The upper part of the silver jellyfish was lined with cylindrical objects, and from these tubes, magical projectiles were continuously fired. In the thin air, the slow-moving Black Dragon Clan were mercilessly struck, creating a hellish scene of screams and chaos.
