After finishing shopping at ‘Shopping Street,’ we returned home and had lunch together. Once we were done eating, I decided to ask Milly to start teaching me some letters. Milly told me to wait in the study with a blackboard and chalk, and then she left.
I moved to the study with the supplies, placed the books, blackboard, and chalk on the table, and waited for Milly to arrive. Since I had a little time, I flipped through the textbook but still couldn’t decipher the squiggly letters that looked like they were written by an earthworm.
Knock, knock!
Oh, could that be Milly?
”Come in, it’s open!”
The person who walked in was Milly, with her blonde hair tied back, wearing black-rimmed glasses, a white, thin blouse that showed off her figure, and a tight skirt that hugged her hips. However, even though she had goat horns on her head, she didn’t have the familiar bat wings.
For a moment, I thought I had the wrong person, but it was definitely Milly.
”Um… you’re Milly, right? What happened to your wings on your back?”
”Ahem! Kent, it’s not Milly, it’s Miss Miriallia!”
It seemed like she was really getting into her role as a teacher. With her blonde hair and that body… she definitely looked like an English teacher. By the way, do teachers in this world really dress like that? No, wait, is there even a school here? But I guess there might be private tutors.
I wouldn’t want to ruin Milly’s performance, so I decided to play my part as the student.
”Okay, Miss Miriallia! I have a question. Why don’t you have wings on your back?”
”Hm? I made them disappear with magic because they were in the way of this outfit.”
”Wait, you can make your wings disappear?”
”The wings of the dream demon clan can be summoned and dismissed with magic, just like the arms of the Asura clan. Kent, you learned something new, right?”
Oh, I see. Milly’s uncle, Arbalest, was from the Asura clan, so he had 6 arms. I wonder if those arms can be made to disappear too.
”Thanks to Miss Miriallia, I’ve become a bit smarter. By the way, can we have the writing class now?”
”Kent, you’re so serious. I’m happy, teacher!”
And so, the writing class led by the female teacher Miss Miriallia began. According to Milly, since I can already speak, the first step is to learn the shapes of the letters that correspond to sounds like ‘a’, ‘i’, and ‘u’.
”Okay, this is the shape of the Western letter that corresponds to ‘a’.”
She wrote the letter ‘a’ on a mini blackboard. Looking at it, I felt a sense of déjà vu. Upon closer inspection, it seemed quite distorted but looked a lot like the alphabet ‘a’. I copied Milly’s writing.
”Kent, you can’t make that line too long.”
She corrected my writing. I erased the corrected letters with a cloth and tried to copy them again.
”Is this how it should look, Miss Miriallia?”
”Hmm, Kent, you’re quite talented. I might have to think of a reward for you!”
What! A reward! The usual reward from a female teacher is a special health and physical education class! You have to embrace the youthful energy of the students!
I gulped as I watched Milly correcting my work. The title of an adult video popped into my head: “Female Teacher Milly’s Special Night Class”. No, I need to focus on writing now!!
”Hehe. Kent, hearing about a reward got you motivated, right?”
”Miss Miriallia! Please, no sexual harassment comments; it’s distracting.”
”Aw, that’s no fun.”
Am I the only one who thinks Milly’s comment about motivation sounds like it means something else? I shook it off and asked her to help me write the letter ‘i’. Again, it was quite distorted but similar to the alphabet ‘i’. Next, ‘u’ was ‘u’, ‘e’ was ‘e’, and ‘o’ was ‘o’.
Milly corrected me a few times, but after 2 or 3 tries, I was able to write them, which surprised her. Since I already knew the base letters, it was easy to just mimic the distortions, so I finished the ‘a’ row quite quickly.
”Wow, you can write the ‘a’ row now. But the next ones will be harder.”
The dictation for the “ka” row has started. ‘K’ was a distorted version of ‘k’. With this, I was sure. The Western characters are written in a way that distorts Roman letters quite a bit.
If that’s the case, reading will become much easier.
”…I…can…create…, it’s not ‘create’ but ‘write’. This…very…well.. does it say ‘I can write this very well’?!”
”Eh? You can read it? How come?”
Milly suddenly became able to read the characters, surprising me.
”What’s this, it’s ‘kkka’ so it’s ‘kk’ for sure.”
”Kent, isn’t that amazing? You just started, and yet… are you really a genius?”
While casually listening to Milly’s silly comments about her boyfriend, I continued to decipher the text written in distorted Roman letters.
”‘I’ll make you… train writing… and learn the… shapes of the characters… uhh… no, it’s not ‘train,’ it should be ‘practice.’”
Still, it’s hard to read. Even though I can read the text written in Roman letters, it takes effort. Moreover, since I convert it to Japanese in my head, when I see “sato to shio,” it’s hard to tell if it means “sugar and salt” or the person “Sato Toshio.”
I miss the Japanese written in kana and kanji. For things that are hard to judge, I thought I could only rely on the surrounding text for context. As for reading, I’ve become quite capable, so I’ll focus on writing from now on.
By the time the sun was setting, I couldn’t manage difficult sentences, but I had become able to write everyday necessary sentences and names.
”Even though it’s simple sentences, to be able to construct them in just one day, or rather half a day… what a plan.”
”No, actually, I just found letters that looked familiar and read and wrote them as they were.”
I said this to comfort Milly, who seemed a bit disappointed. She must have thought she could do that cosplay and have harassment classes for several days. I felt a bit regretful too, but since I could read and write, it couldn’t be helped.
The only thing I was still anxious about was the expressions and nouns that only appeared in the Grimoire.
”Miss Miriallia, thank you very much for today.”
I thanked Milly and ended that day’s lesson. As I finished the class, feeling satisfied, a log window opened automatically.

Whoa, I leveled up! I wonder if I gained experience points from studying? It seems like I get one skill point for each level up. Looking at the skill list, I see that the skills that were previously black due to having no points are now glowing white because I gained points.
I read the skill descriptions:
[Document Creation I]… Can create necessary documents for daily life. Activating it will cause some language replacements. Costs 5 skill points to acquire.
[Floor Technique I]… Entertains the opponent with decent techniques. Activating it increases affection rate by 10%. Costs 5 skill points to acquire.
Hmm, the remaining points I have, combined with the 1 point I got from leveling up, only add up to 5 points. I guess I should go with [Document Creation I]. That’s the only option.
[Floor Technique I] seems like a trap skill. I can always get it later when I have more points. But wait, I activated the [Floor Technique I] skill against my own will! Why am I activating [Floor Technique I]? Am I an idiot?
