Chapter 145 Celebration Of Passing The Medical National Examination
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Congratulations on passing the medical exam!”
Clap! Clap!
”Thank you, Seiichi-san, Keiko-san!”
Haruto, Akane, their close friend Kokushi Renka, and Munesawa Mebae had all passed the exam.
Incidentally, Kono Yuzuki—who was one year ahead of Haruto and had graduated from the Economics Department last year—had recently passed the CPA exam and already started her working life.
Since their results came out, the group had been celebrating here and there. Today, Seiichi-san from the neighboring apartment invited them over for a home-cooked meal.
”I made a lot, so eat as much as you’d like,” Keiko said with a warm smile.
”Wow, this looks amazing!”
Haruto dug in with enthusiasm. Lately, they’d been eating out to celebrate, but nothing beat a proper homemade meal.
After finishing dinner and chatting over a few drinks, Haruto began to feel his eyelids grow heavy.
Alcohol and Haruto didn’t get along well—he always got sleepy when drinking. Not that it was a big deal; he could use his ability to sober up instantly if needed.
He was just about to do that when—
”It’s fine if you stay the night.”
”I’ll get the futon ready.”
It was just next door, so Haruto initially thought about heading back. But since it was a special occasion, he decided to relax a little and accept their hospitality.
”Well, if you insist… Thank you. Sorry for turning in early.”
With that, Haruto lay down on the futon they had prepared for him and quietly closed his eyes.
* * *
”…Mmm…”
He wasn’t sure how long he’d been out. When he stirred and glanced around, the bed nearby was empty.
”Haruto-kun is here.”
”Then it’s fine, right? Let’s go.”
He heard voices coming from the other room. A presence approached. Haruto instinctively closed his eyes again, pretending to sleep.
Rustle.
Judging from the sounds and the sense of movement, it seemed like two people had gotten into bed. But their earlier conversation stuck in Haruto’s mind.
(Wait… was that about going to sleep? That didn’t sound like normal bedtime talk.)
There was a glass table between Haruto’s futon and the bed. Thanks to that, he thought it would be hard to notice if he cracked his eyes open just a bit… so he tried it.
Rustle.
From his slightly opened eyes, it looked like the two were lying down. Still, there was a faint motion—something moving near their arms.
(Something’s moving… What are they doing?)
From his position, Haruto could barely make out Seiichi-san’s form beyond the table. Keiko-san seemed to be lying down further in, but she was out of view.
Then, Seiichi-san suddenly sat up and moved toward the end of the bed.
(Wait, what’s he doing?)
Haruto squinted, uncertain. It looked like Seiichi was gently pulling down Keiko’s pants.
(…Huh? What the hell?)
For a moment, Haruto’s mind jumped to the worst-case scenario, but the strange slowness of it all made it more confusing than anything.
(I don’t get what’s happening… but watching this from the shadows kinda feels like peeking through a hole in the wall. Not gonna lie… it’s weirdly exciting.)
If there had been a peephole into the next room, Haruto was sure he would’ve looked.
With that same illicit curiosity, he kept his eyes fixed on Seiichi’s movements.
(Huh…? Wait a sec—what’s even going on here?)
Notes:
• Renka – A second-year medical student whose family runs a cosmetic surgery clinic. She has extensive knowledge of aesthetics and is the first to notice the abnormality in Haruto’s massage. She is close friends with Mebae and Yuzuki.
• Mebae – Munesawa Mebae. A second-year medical student and close friend of Renka. She is less interested in the abnormality of Haruto’s massage but is straightforward and assertive, as seen when she asks Haruto to stop using her surname.
• Kono Yuzuki – A second-year economics student who struggles with deep mental health issues. She feels guilty for past actions toward Haruto and Akane but is gradually welcomed into their circle. The one being blackmailed by Ryuichi.
