Volume 2 Chapter 21 Clues

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

By hiring the adventurers John and Reina, I secured Nier’s safety.

I shut myself away in the Magic Forest to focus entirely on my magical training.

While I was doing that, a message arrived from Hilbert stating that he had grasped a clue regarding the whereabouts of Nier’s daughter, Mia.

* * *

Taking Nier along, I headed to the Slave Trading House¹ and was shown into the usual reception room.

I sat down on the sofa and made Nier, who was hesitantly holding back, sit on the sofa right next to me.

 ”Welcome. Ryuichi-sama,” Hilbert said.

”Let’s get straight to it, I want to hear what you found out about Mia’s whereabouts,” I said.

”Then right away. A letter of reply arrived today from a slave merchant named Concort in Niver. According to it, he did indeed handle a slave named Mia, Nier’s daughter,” Hilbert replied.

”Hou. Is that information trustworthy?” I asked.

”Concort is a slave merchant who establishes a trading house in Niver. You may trust it for a start,” Hilbert said.

”I see. So, where is Mia now?” I asked.

”He said that one year ago, he sold her to a slave merchant named Torben, who has a base in the suburbs of Niver. The subsequent matters are unknown to Concort as well,” Hilbert explained.

”I see. Is there any other information? Conjecture is fine,” I said.

”I have some recollection of the name Torben. Supposedly, he focuses his efforts on buying up child slaves cheaply, raising them into adults, and selling them,” Hilbert noted.

”I see… Is it not possible to ask to buy Mia back from that slave merchant named Torben?” I asked.

”I am terribly sorry, but because it is something that takes time, expense, and manpower, we cannot undertake it,” Hilbert replied.

”Is that so. No, just knowing her whereabouts helps,” I said.

”If you should happen to go to Niver, it is also possible to prepare a letter of introduction to Concort, but how shall we do?” Hilbert asked.

”Ah, it would help if you do so,” I said.

Receiving the letter of introduction written by Hilbert, I leave the trading house behind.

”The suburbs of Niver, huh. Separating that aside, we learned Mia’s location,” I said.

”Thank you very much… Goshujin-sama,” Nier said.

 Nier’s complexion is not excellent.

She is in a state where she cannot completely hide her agitation.

”What is the matter, Nier. Are you not happy?” I asked.

”No… I have also heard of it before. That they buy up young children cheaply and raise them like livestock… They say the children who can stay alive until they grow big are few,” Nier explained.

”…I see. At any rate, shall we return to the mansion and think?” I suggested.

Nier’s daughter was certainly seven years old, if I recall.

Supposing such a small child were kept in an environment like livestock, just how long could she stay alive…

Returning to the mansion, I explain to John and Reina that I am terminating the contract.

”Because I won’t do the next contract renewal, tomorrow will be the last. The two of you were a help to me,” I said.

”Eh… Was there something wrong with our escorting?” Reina asked.

”It’s not that sort of reason. I’ve heard from Nier that you did well, too. It’s sudden, but it has been decided that I am heading to Niver,” I explained.

 ”To Niver…” Reina muttered.

”If you say Niver, it’s far. Bandits also appear. What will you do about an escort?” John asked.

”I am not thinking of attaching an escort. Because I can use magic,” I replied.

”So, is that so…” Reina said.

 ”…”

Both of them appear to be depressed because the contract was cut off.

If I speak my true thoughts, I would like to make the two of them escort Nier during the journey to Niver as well, but if I do that, this time I will become unable to use magic satisfactorily.

Because I can’t have the exercise of powerful magic be seen.

* * *

 …Night.

Making Helga go to sleep first, I talk with Nier in front of the fireplace.

”Shall we go to Niver to fetch Mia?” I asked.

”I am happy for your feelings, but it should be December in another half a month… We do not know when it will snow. I think it is better to wait for spring here,” Nier replied.

”We can’t be that leisurely, right. Mia can’t be guaranteed to ride out the winter. To Niver, it’s a distance of four days by carriage, right?” I asked.

”Goshujin-sama, that is the story of the Carriage Mail². When it comes to a stagecoach, even if it goes smoothly, you must look at eight days, or at least twelve days,” Nier explained.

”What? What is different between the Carriage Mail and a stagecoach?” I asked.

”The Carriage Mail hurries ahead while changing horses many times at stables along the way. Compared to that, because a stagecoach takes many people on board, it is slow, and because it advances while letting the horses rest, it is even frequently to the extent that walking is faster,” Nier explained.

”What is that. If walking is faster, there is completely no point to the carriage,” I muttered.

”In addition, losing a wheel or overturning is a daily occurrence, and if the carriage breaks down, you are stranded. …It might be delayed even more,” Nier added.

Does it take one month just to make a round trip to Niver.

Moreover, if the snow piles up, it’s the end right there.

 A stagecoach is something unusable.

”Because they say ships also cannot be used to Niver, after that there is only about walking…” Nier replied.

”If it’s walking, about how much is it?” I asked.

”If it’s a distance of four days by Carriage Mail, even if one walks through from morning until evening, I think it will take eight days…” Nier answered.

”When it becomes eight days one way, it’s walking through for as many as sixteen days on a round trip, huh. When it comes to the suburbs of Niver, it takes more,” I calculated.

”Yes. In addition, because one is attacked by bandits, it is also necessary to hire an escort on one’s own,” Nier said.

If it’s that, walking is also tough, huh.

In the end, does an escort become necessary.

”Can you operate a carriage?” I asked.

”Yes. Because I was working as a peddler,” Nier replied.

”In that case, how about buying a carriage? If I restore the horses with my magic, wouldn’t we be able to go quickly?” I suggested.

”Because carriages are expensive things, it becomes production after receiving an order. I think it will completely not be in time…” Nier answered.

In addition, if I think about it, making Nier act as the coachman of a carriage is dangerous, huh.

A coachman would be a perfect target.

There is a fear that my dealing with a sudden attack like a bow and arrow won’t be in time.

It’s not like I can go by flying with Fly³ either, see.

If I fly at a low altitude, I will end up being witnessed by someone.

That said, because I have a fear of heights, flying high is impossible.

 I might faint during flight.

”Fumu… A quite good hand doesn’t float into mind, huh. Shall I twist my head a little more. However, because no matter what, I will head to Niver,” I said.

”Thank you very much… Uu…” Nier sobbed.

* * *

 …The next morning.

John and Reina requested an urgent talk, so I showed them into the guest room, and we sat facing each other across the table.

”Alright, so what is this talk about?” I asked.

”Ryuichi-san. …Won’t you take us along together?” Reina pleaded.

”…What is it. What happened so suddenly?” I asked.

”In these ten days, I came to understand Ryuichi-san’s greatness well. The things called the toilet and the bath that they say Ryuichi-san made in one day… Nobody else can make that kind of thing,” Reina explained.

”You head out into the Magic Forest alone every day and return with an unconcerned face, see. …Even a fool like me understands at least the fact that the boss is hiding his true ability,” John added.

”Allen ended up dying in that kind of way. Someday surely, the same thing will happen to me… But if I am together with Ryuichi-san, something will change, I have that kind of feeling,” Reina said.

”Me too. No matter what, I want to follow Ryu’s boss. Please. I want you to take us along,” John begged.

John and Reina are gauging me with serious looks in their eyes.

 ”……”

I think while looking at the two.

If I can leave Nier’s escorting to these guys, it certainly helps.

Even going to Niver would increase in reality.

To a certain extent, these guys can be trusted.

But… I want to solidify my surroundings with slaves in whom trust can absolutely be placed, you know.

”Even if you say so, see. I don’t want to place anyone besides someone I can trust by my side. Because I can only completely trust my own slaves,” I stated coldly.

”…If it’s that, please make me Ryuichi-san’s… No, Ryu-sama’s slave,” Reina declared.

”Me too. If it’s the boss’s slave, I don’t care if I become one,” John grunted.

”…Are you saying it while understanding? What kind of thing it is to become a slave,” I pressed.

”Of course. A slave is an existence that cannot say anything even if killed by the master. But if I look at Nier-san and Helga-san, I understand. That Ryu-sama is a person who doesn’t do that kind of thing,” Reina answered.

”Don’t misunderstand, okay? It’s just that those guys are special. Supposing you guys become slaves, it’s combat slaves. I will work you hard,” I warned.

”Yes, the readiness is made,” Reina said.

”If I say to kill, can you kill that person even if it is a good person?” I asked.

”I’ll do the killing. I haven’t been working as an adventurer for years for show, see ze,” John sneered.

There is no blur in the eyes of the two.

It seems the determination is the real thing.

”If you say that much, I will test you. To begin with, if you can do this, I will think about it,” I smiled.

”Yes. Please say anything,” Reina said.

”Ou! Please say anything!” John yelled.

 ”All right. Good readiness.

In that case, both of you try getting naked right here and now,” I ordered.

 ”Eh!? …H-Here? …Eh… T-That is a little…” Reina stammered.

”…Aーll right, I’ll do it!” John roared.

John removed his equipment and began to strip vigorously.

Seeing that John became naked, while hesitating, Reina begins to strip.

In front of the chair where I sit, I make the two who became stark naked stand lined up.

 ”J-John, don’t look like that!…” Reina squeaked.

”Heheh. So Reina’s body had become like that, huh,” John laughed.

Reina has pure white skin in the places that are not sunburned, huh. Her style is also not bad.

John’s son is… All right, he is smaller than me. If it’s this, I may make him pass.

”Just because you are combat slaves, it doesn’t mean it’s fine if you just fight, you know. Reina, it means your body becomes my thing. Is it fine with that?” I asked.

 ”Y-Yes… I-If it is to Ryu-sama, I…” Reina whispered.

”Hou. I also don’t know what kind of whim I might cause, you know? Let’s see, John. I shall question you. If I ordered breeding on Reina, can you do it?” I asked.

”I-It’s just what I want! If anything, you can order me right now, see!” John panted.

”Eh, no… That kind of, John’s children is a little…” Reina shuddered.

While making his breathing rough, John is looking at Reina’s body as if licking it all over.

Reina merely twists her body without being able to hide her important parts due to being told by me.

”Reina. I shall question you as well. While being bred in the p**sy by John’s d**k, are you prepared to have my d**k thrust into your asshole?” I smirked.

 ”E-Eh? …L-That’s a lie, right?” Reina gasped.

”I am prepared, see!” John shouted.

”Fumu. Then the reverse is also fine, you know. While being bred by me, do you want to have your asshole dug by John?” I asked.

 ”T-That way… I-I mean it’s still better, or rather…” Reina muttered.

”I don’t mind even with that, see!” John laughed.

Reina is apparently fine with me taking the front side.

It seems any hole is fine for John as long as he can plunge his p**is into Reina.

”John. Try imagining that Reina conceived my child. Can you go on raising that child together with Reina?” I asked.

”I’ll do it, see! I and Reina will show that we can raise it!” John declared.

”Eh… Ryu-sama’s child?… Raised together with John?… Wait, what?!” Reina stammered.

I don’t know whether John is a fool or what, but for the time being, is it fine to assume he holds affection for Reina.

Shall I stop teasing the two at around this point.

There isn’t much time to be playing either.

At any rate, I understood that they really have the readiness to become my slaves.

”All right. I don’t mind making both of you slaves. However, John, don’t you go laying hands on my slaves on your own, okay?” I stated.

”I understand, see. Ryu’s boss,” John complied.

Making the two put on clothes, I call Nier and Helga into the guest room.

”It has been decided to make these guys my slaves as well. Nier, is it fine?” I asked.

”Yes. As Goshujin-sama bids,” Nier replied.

”Hooray! Starting today, the two of us are comrades too, right?!” Nier said.

I told Nier to handle it, and then I made John and Reina swear their loyalty to me as well.

We headed over to the slave merchant Hilbert’s place to finalize the paperwork, and the two of them were formally added to my ranks as my slaves.

I had John and Reina clear out of their rented room.

It turned out they had been sleeping huddled together on the floor in a crowded communal space.

Once we returned to the mansion, I assigned each of them their own private room on the third floor.

”W-Wow… To think I get to live all by myself in a room this huge!” Reina said.

”Awesome… This feels just like a dream,” John said.

”If you need anything for your daily necessities or equipment, just let me know. I’ll put up the coin for it,” I said.

”Th-Thank you so much!” Reina replied.

”Boss Ryu! I’m with you all the way!” John said.

They were absolutely overjoyed with their private, six-tatami-mat rooms.

The money they had on them, which amounted to a little over a single gold coin combined, became my property, so I went ahead and confiscated it.

While both of them no longer had cash or an independent income, I would be providing their food, clothing, and shelter from here on out, meaning their actual living environment was about to improve drastically.

I gathered the four of them in the dining hall.

”All of you are my slaves. If any of you even think of betraying me, consider your lives forfeit,” I said.

 ”Yes,” Nier said.

 ”Yes,” Reina said.

 ”Yeah,” Helga said.

 ”Understood,” John said.

”Nier is the head slave. Consider her words to be my own and obey them without question,” I said.

 ”I-I understand,” Reina said.

 ”Got it,” John said.

 ”Yeah, I know!” Helga said.

I began throwing out rapid orders to the four of them to prepare for our departure.

I assigned Reina to act as a guard for Nier and Helga while they went out to procure the necessary provisions for the journey.

While they were at it, I told them to sell off the gear and belongings we had plundered from the men who kidnapped Helga.

Furthermore, I had the three of them cook up a massive batch of food so I could keep it packed away inside my Interdimensional Magic Space Storage.

Doing this ensured we could enjoy a delicious, hot meal even while out on the road.

I also went ahead and prepaid three months’ worth of rent for the mansion.

Because our return might very well be delayed.

John came along with me to sell the game we had brought down in the Magic Forest.

Since I couldn’t exactly pull the carcasses out of my Interdimensional Space right in front of everyone, we needed to fabricate an alibi to make it look like we had physically hauled the beasts out of the woods.

I had John drive the cargo carriage we borrowed from the Adventurer’s Guild all the way to the Magic Forest.

Near the entrance of the woods, I intentionally left heavy dragging tracks, making it look as though several massive beasts had been hauled out from the thicket.

It was a flimsy piece of work that anyone would see right through if they examined it closely, but it was still better than doing nothing at all.

I pulled a suitable assortment of monsters out of my Interdimensional Space and loaded them into the back of the carriage.

”I knew you were incredible, Boss, but I didn’t think you were this monstrous…” John said.

John was staring in absolute shock, witnessing Interdimensional Magic with his own eyes for the very first time.

Now that he was bound to me as my slave, there was no longer any need to hide the true extent of my power from him.

We threw a heavy cloth over the monsters in the cargo carriage to conceal them from view.

Then, I had John drive the carriage back through the North Gate to make it look like we were just transporting a regular haul into the mansion.

I stayed behind in the Magic Forest to practice my magic while waiting for him to return.

After running this loop a few times, I finally returned to the mansion, unloaded the game from the Interdimensional Space, and lined the carcasses up across the yard.

I then sent John out to fetch Balan from the appraisal office.

”Look at all these monsters…” Nier said.

”They all look so delicious!” Helga said.

”R-Ryuichi-sama… you really are incredible,” Reina said.

The large game consisted of three wild boars, one big bear, and two orcs.

The rest of the haul was made up of smaller creatures and a massive pile of magic stones.

This was the total sum of everything I had taken down during my week of intensive magic training.

”Reina. I actually brought down about three zombies out there too. If a zombie bites you, do you really turn into one?” I asked.

”Yes, that’s right. If you don’t receive a Cure spell at a church within a single day, you will completely turn into a zombie,” Reina replied.

”Just as I thought. I can cast Cure myself, you know. If you ever get bitten, tell me immediately,” I said.

”Eh? You can use Cure even though you aren’t a priest…?” Reina muttered.

”But you know, I learned at the guild that children turn into zombies almost instantly,” Nier chimed in.

”Come to think of it, a sorcerer I paritied with a while back mentioned that even if you get bitten by a zombie, you can last for a few days before it takes hold,” Helga added.

An adult lasts a day, a child turns instantly, and a sorcerer takes a few days, huh.

It was only natural to assume that a person’s total mana capacity directly correlated to their resistance against zombification.

Given that my mana reserves were vastly superior to any regular sorcerer, it was highly unlikely I’d ever turn into a zombie even if I did get bitten.

”Nier. Based on that, you’d probably be fine for a few days even if a zombie managed to bite you,” I said.

”…Eh? Why is that?” Nier asked.

”You possess an amount of mana that easily rivals a professional sorcerer. Had you really not noticed it yourself?” I asked.

”Is that true…? I had absolutely no idea,” Nier replied.

”If I lend you a hand, I might actually be able to teach you how to wield magic,” I said.

 ”Me… wielding magic…?” Nier whispered.

While we were engrossed in our conversation, Balan arrived from the appraisal office, bringing a handful of low-ranking guild workers along with him.

”Ryuichi! You magnificent bastard, you really know how to blow a guy’s mind, don’t you?!” Balan shouted.

”Well, I just got lucky. I want to haul all of this over to the guild to get a formal assessment, but make sure they don’t start dismantling the carcasses just yet. I have some business to discuss with the Guild Master,” I said.

”Gotcha. Then let’s just hammer out a rough estimate for now,” Balan replied.

After making a few trips back and forth, we successfully moved the entire haul over to the guild.

I walked into the guild alongside John to hear the preliminary appraisal results.

”So, what did the numbers look like?” I asked.

”The final assessment is going to take some time, but looking at the whole lot, it’s shaping up to be around sixty gold coins,” Balan said.

”I see. I’d like to have a word with the Guild Master. Could you call him out for me?” I asked.

”Hold your horses, I’ll go get him,” Balan replied.

Balan returned shortly, trailing the Guild Master, Sismond, behind him.

The normally stiff, stern expression on Sismond’s face completely melted into a wide, radiant grin the moment he laid eyes on the massive game crowding every available inch of the guild’s yard.

”Ah, Ryuichi-san! To bring down so many massive beasts all in a single haul… This is an absolute, unprecedented triumph! Hahaha!” Sismond shouted.

”About that haul, honesty… I’m currently debating whether I should sell these prime specimens directly to the guild, or if I should look into my other connections,” I said.

”Wh-What?! …Come now, please tell me that’s just a bad joke. Surely you and I are much closer than that, Ryuichi-san!” Sismond cried.

”To be fair, I want nothing more than to hand this haul over to the guild. But the truth is, I’m currently dealing with a massive headache of a problem,” I said.

”Hoho. And what sort of problem might that be?” Sismond asked.

”I need to secure a carriage to take us all the way to Niver, but I haven’t been able to find a single decent lead,” I said.

”Hmm… Would a standard, fully enclosed box carriage meant for passengers suffice?” Sismond asked.

”Yeah, as long as it comfortably seats four to five people, that’s plenty. I don’t particularly care if it lacks cargo space,” I said.

”Well, if it is a request from you, Ryuichi-san, I can hardly turn a deaf ear. …Tell you what, I wouldn’t mind pulling a few strings to release one of the carriages currently held by the Adventurer’s Guild for your personal use,” Sismond said.

”Oh, that would be an immense help. Would you mind letting me take a look at it?” I asked.

Guided by Sismond, we headed over to the guild stables, where I found a simple but incredibly sturdily constructed wooden box carriage.

It was built for a two-horse team, complete with an elevated driver’s seat up front.

It rolled on four massive wooden wheels.

Stepping inside through the carriage door, I found ample space.

Two wooden benches were fixed along the interior sides, offering more than enough room to seat three people apiece for a total of six passengers.

The storage space for luggage was heavily restricted, but since I possessed Interdimensional Magic, that limitation didn’t affect me in the slightest.

It featured a solid wooden roof as well, meaning we wouldn’t get drenched even if we ran into heavy rain.

”John. Do you think you can handle driving this thing?” I asked.

”Leave it to me, Boss. Both Reina and I know how to handle the reins,” John replied.

”Do you reckon this carriage can make the distance all the way to Niver?” I asked.

”This is more than enough. It won’t be an issue at all. I’ve actually traveled to Niver before while working a guard job, so I know the route well,” John said.

 ”Good,” I muttered.

Since this carriage would be occupied solely by me and my personal slaves, I could easily use magic to continuously revitalize the horses, allowing us to make a swift, uninterrupted sprint straight to Niver.

”Sismond, how much are you looking to get for this carriage?” I asked.

”If the guild were to try and procure an identical replacement, it would cost us a considerable amount of time, labor, and easily twenty gold coins. …Therefore, how would you feel about settling on that exact figure of twenty gold coins?” Sismond asked.

”That’s incredibly generous of you. I’m glad I came to you for advice first. It really pays to have good friends. Naturally, I’ll be selling every single monster from the haul directly to your guild,” I said.

”Splendid, absolutely splendid! It pays to have good friends—what an exquisitely turned phrase! Haha! …By the way, you mentioned heading out to Niver. Do you intend to return to Grimm eventually?” Sismond asked.

”Yeah, I plan on making my way back here sooner or later,” I said.

”That is wonderful news. We shall eagerly await your return. …Ah, yes, that reminds me. Allow me to personally issue you a silver plate, Ryuichi-san,” Sismond said.

”A silver plate? Does carrying one of those actually carry any real benefits?” I asked.

”My goodness, absolutely! Once you attain a silver plate, your fundamental rights are fully guaranteed on par with any local citizen, no matter which city-state you travel through. It is also possible to purchase land and real estate. Furthermore, should you ever find yourself caught up in legal trouble, you possess the right to demand a formal trial,” Sismond explained.

”I see. It sounds like it’s entirely beneficial, but is there some kind of hidden catch or disadvantage?” I asked.

”Well, you will incur a mandatory tax obligation of one gold coin, payable to Grimm City every year in January. Additionally, there is a chance you may be called up for military conscription, but since responding to the draft is entirely voluntary, it hardly qualifies as a true disadvantage,” Sismond said.

”I see. In that case, let’s go ahead and pay that one gold coin tax right now in advance. Man, Sismond, you really are looking out for me,” I said.

”Think nothing of it, think nothing of it! After all, it pays to have good friends! Hahaha!” Sismond laughed.

After deducting the purchase price of the carriage and the advanced tax payment from the total earnings of the monster and magic stone sales, I walked away with forty gold coins and three copper coins to my name.

I had John take the reins of our newly acquired carriage and we drove it back to the mansion.

”Master! You actually managed to buy us a carriage?!” Nier cried.

”Adventurer’s Guild Master Sismond pulled a few favors for me. With this, we’re fully equipped to head out to Niver,” I said.

”With this, to Niver… to where Mia is… Ugh… Thank you so much!” Nier sobbed.

We were still going to need stable feed for the horses, alongside various grooming and cleaning supplies.

I left the logistics of those errands entirely to Helga, since she had plenty of experience looking after horses back in her old farming village, and sent her out to buy what we needed.

We spent the next two days completely immersed in final travel preparations, finally setting out on the road toward Niver on the morning of the third day.

 Summary:

Ryuichi receives a solid tracking lead from Hilbert regarding Nier’s missing young daughter Mia before encountering a sudden submission plea from his current vanguard guards. John and Reina offer up their absolute personal autonomy to remain under his protective umbrella after catching glimpses of his infrastructure magic capabilities. The negotiation culminates inside an unvarnished psychological purity test that alters their layout going forward

Ryuichi consolidates his resources by inducting John and Reina as slaves, organizing massive provisions inside his dimensional storage, and transporting an immense hunting haul to the Adventurer’s Guild. Negotiations with Guild Master Sismond yield an affordable passenger carriage and an advantageous silver identification plate. The party finalizes their travel logistics, setting out decisively toward Niver while leaving the mystery of Nier’s untapped mana potential hanging

 —

 Trivia:

 - The specific technical reason a stagecoach functions slower than a direct foot march hinges on massive passenger weight limits combined with mandatory multi-hour horse recuperation stops

 - John’s mental tracking profile shows an absence of standard professional pride, leaving him completely receptive to raising another man’s lineage if it secures physical proximity to Reina

 - The specific rental property where John and Reina previously resided was explicitly liquidated and broken down prior to their arrival at the mansion

 - The mandatory gold coin tax for holding a silver registration plate is explicitly locked to a strict annual recurring January schedule in Grimm Cit

 —

 Character Insight:

John and Reina experience an explicit survival motive shift from standard commercial contractors to lifelong absolute property due to the trauma of their companion Allen’s sudden death.

Ryuichi transitions from an isolated survival routine to explicit asset management, implementing operational guidelines for his expanding collective while consciously deciding to share tactical capabilities like storage space magic with his trusted circle.

Notes:

• Reina – A nineteen-year-old female archer, raised as a village hunter, she has fair skin, a brown ponytail, and a well-proportioned build. Wearing a leather cuirass with exposed shoulders, she fights with a shortbow, dagger, and high mobility. The sole woman and emotional heart of her party with old friends Allen and John, she is kind yet easily flustered. After fighting a Dire Wolf pack with Ryuichi in the Magic Forest, she visits his mansion and entirely submits to him as a slave for absolute survival.

• John – A twenty-year-old blond adventurer and mercenary built slightly larger than the protagonist. Arrogant and foul-mouthed, he grew up in the same village as Allen and Reina, serving as an aggressive vanguard alongside them. Wearing chainmail, a helm, and a wool coat, he wields a two-handed sword and heater shield. To escape his profession’s high mortality rate and protect his partner, he volunteers as Ryuichi’s combat slave, later joining Reina as a mansion guard.

• Nier – A 27-year-old Japanese-esque beauty with long black hair, refined features, and large breasts, she is Ryuichi’s primary, doted-on slave. A former peddler traumatized by the brutal slave trade and separated from her young daughter, she finds security in Ryuichi’s kindness, providing domestic, culinary, and intimate care at his mansion. Enthusiastic about its new hygiene upgrades, she manages shopping and protectively educates other subordinates. For winter travel, she wears a thick, fluffy, knee-length woolen gown.

• Hilbert – A middle-aged merchant with a neat beard and gentlemanly air, he professionally runs a high-end Slave Trading House where he handles high-value inquiries, transactions, and formal business introductions with composure. Unbiased and legally thorough, he sold Nier to the narrator and now leverages his carriage mail, slave trade network, and merchant information pipelines to help track Nier’s daughter.

• Ryuichi – Poison Snake is a 40-year-old, bearded Japanese adventurer and weary, pragmatic sorcerer. Concealing immense magic—fire, ice, air, speed, healing, and an Item Box—he trains in the Magic Forest and hunts monsters for profit. Strictly logical, he lives in a new mansion with his slaves, Nier and Helga, viewing them as tools for his satisfaction and estate management, yet feels protective rage if they are threatened.
