”Uwaaaaahhhhhh!!! Lord-samaaa! Cocoa toooo! Hey! Cocoa toooo wants caramel toooo!!! Cocoa wants it so bad, pleaaaseeee!!!”
Honestly… lately Ayumu had been thinking—if people never knew what wealth or happiness tasted like, maybe they wouldn’t even know what unhappiness was either. It was a weird thought, but it stuck with him.
”Hey, hey, heyꐦ Cocoa!! Give it up already!! This caramel—this whole thing—is ALL Sasami’s!! Got it?! It’s MINE!!”
”Bweeeeeeehhhhnnnnn!!”
Gods above… bringing something like butter caramel into this otherworld had been a mistake.
Ayumu had asked the Domain Army’s officers’ mess to make a trial batch, and the rich smell had barely hit the air before Sasami was shrieking, “It’s unfair nobles get all the good stuff! Let me sneak a bite too!!” and now—now it had turned into this circus.
Naturally, Ayumu had stood his ground. “No! Of course you can’t, Sasami! What are you even saying? This is something only Knights and nobles—people who literally stake their lives—are allowed to eat. You’re twenty years too early to even think about it!” he had told her, firmly clutching the butter caramel away from their sticky little hands.
And then the two of them had just… started wailing.
”Bweeeeeeehhhhhhnnnnn!!”
Tears spilling like broken faucets, sniffling, hiccuping, making the ugliest sad faces they could. And—oh no. Oh no. They were trying to cry their way into Ayumu’s heart.
”Absolutely not! No way!! Got it?! It’s definitely NOT happening, you hear me?! I won’t fall for your tears this time!!”
This time, Ayumu swore he’d steel his heart like iron.
…Ten minutes later.
”Is it good?”
”Mhm! So tasty~♪” “It’s super yummy~♪”
And that was how Ayumu, once again, proved completely powerless against the tearful assault of small children.
