Chapter 9 Run Away! ②
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I suddenly started running toward the entrance of the throne hall, shoving aside footsoldiers and villagers alike, desperate to prolong my own life!!
The people around me widened their eyes in shock at my abrupt movement, but it was too late to stop now.
”It was about 8 seconds after the escape when I heard a footsoldier shout,
’Wait! Where are you going!? Stop!’ he yelled,
his voice cracking with urgency,
but it was already too late.
I’d already dashed through the throne hall and leaned out of a nearby window onto the castle roof.
”Ah! Ah! Damn! It’s higher than I thought!!” I gasped, gritting my teeth as I steadied myself on the ledge.
Suppressing my fear, I leapt across the roof with reckless resolve!!
Never did I imagine I’d come to this otherworld and end up fleeing from humans using parkout—but strangely, it was working.
Thanks to it, I was beginning to grasp the full layout of the castle.
It seemed this fortress had been constructed atop a small hill, backed by a sprawling, roaring river.
Barrack-like buildings for the footsoldiers were scattered everywhere.
Even worse—there were guards posted at every corridor and junction.
My earlier hunch was right:
”If I’m going to outrun these trained footsoldiers, I’ve got no choice but to flee across the rooftops,” I muttered under my breath.
”There he is!! On the roof!! You, go that way!! You all follow me!! We’ll surround him!!” barked a commanding voice below, bootsteps echoing against the stone.
(Shit! They’re already surrounding me! Even in this otherworld, their coordination’s no joke!!) I thought, sweat sliding down my temple.
By the time I reached the roof’s edge, their formation had tightened.
I had no time to hesitate.
Before they could close in on me,
I launched myself off the roof—toward the massive river that raged below!
SPLAAASH!!
The cold shock of the river hit me like a slap to the soul.
Choking back the icy sting in my lungs, I latched onto a piece of drifting debris.
The current pulled me forward.
Behind me, the castle walls shrank in the distance…
and I left it all behind.
