Volume 2 Chapter 50 Quest: The Mirror That Sucks Magic I

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Among the 4 basic techniques, the skill set one can master with ‘Leap’ and ‘Wall’ focuses mainly on the ‘Leap’ category. ‘Leap’ enhances speed, but in the case of ‘Domain’, the use of magic power is fundamentally different from the basic techniques.”

 Kian continued.

”For example, the basic technique ‘Leap’ interferes with the cells and laws within your body, while ‘Domain’ interferes with the physical laws of a defined external space. By first determining the area of interference and rewriting the laws within that range to suit your needs, you can achieve super-fast movement. In nature, it’s quite similar to the magic used by magicians, wouldn’t you agree?”

 ”I see?”

 ”Yes, that’s it.”

 Kian continued.

”A warrior moving within the ‘Domain’ is incredibly fast, moving at about 50 to 60 times the normal speed. Simply enhancing physical abilities could make one appear to teleport using ‘Leap’ or exist simultaneously.”

”So, while he was using a clone, Sir Oswald was doing giant lateral hops!”

 ”──Imagining that is quite stupid…”

”You were being toyed with, weren’t you?”

As Kian said this and shrugged, the warrior behind Guillaume tensed up.

”Damn it, that handsome noble! How dare he mock us!”

”Well, don’t get so angry. ──Kian, I think there’s nothing we can do if he move so fast that we can’t see him. Is there any solution?”

”If you guys let him into the area, there’s a chance that you could move at the same super speed, so the approaching leap must have been outside the ‘area’. That’s also the true identity of the clone that you were able to capture.”

”In other words, we should anticipate the leap from the beginning and attack at the leap?”

”That’s right. Other than that, it’s an advanced technique, so it can’t be deployed forever.”

”We are entirely dependent on Sir Oswald’s actions. Does this mean we must remain on the defensive?”

”If there’s someone among you with strong magic power, you should learn ‘Domain’. Match your ‘Domain’ deployment with Sir Oswald’s. When 2 ‘Domains’ clash, contradictions arise, and the energy (ki) distorting the area should naturally dissipate.”

”But there are only ten days left until the ceremony. According to Sir McCutchen, schedules might get moved up, and honestly, for us who don’t even know the basics, learning ‘Domain’ by then is…”

 Guillaume frowned thoughtfully.

He lifted his gaze and continued.

”Still, I appreciate it. Sir Oswald didn’t teach me anything, so I was planning to consult an information broker. I’ll try the method you suggested during tomorrow’s practice.”

”I’m glad it was helpful. But it’s good to hear. By the way, since I can’t use ‘Domain’ either, I’d like to take personal lessons from him (Oswald) if possible.”

”For a knight, swordsmanship is essentially a tool of the trade, and he doesn’t seem to be short on money or materials. He probably won’t teach you no matter what.”

”I guess we’ll have to learn by watching.”

When Kian said that, the 3 laughed wryly.

 Guillaume extended his hand again.

”I look forward to the ceremony. I’ll figure out a decisive strategy somehow.”

”Yeah, we’ll take a shot at that insufferable noble. If we do well, we might be recognized by the ‘Holy Sword of the Sun’ and become the next ‘Knights of the Sun’.”

”I’m happy as long as I can get through the ceremony safely…”

Although they’re a little hesitant, they seem to be generally very motivated.

Guillaume and his friends slip past Kian and walk off toward the special window at the back of the Guild.

They will receive a special quest reward from the Knights of the Sun.

’Good job. If they can show off at the ceremony, they’ll be the steward’s favorite.’

(It’s one way to rise to power. If they succeed in this gamble, they might not be granted a fief, but they might be granted a vineyard.)

 ’Are you satisfied with that?’

 Kian let out a sigh.

 ”Of course.”

After that, he accepted the murder investigation quest, completed it immediately, and took on a second quest.

This one involves exploring Maribel’s underground residence.

Kian turned back on the path he came, heading for Izerland’s main castle.

At the castle gate, he informed the guard of his business──.

After receiving permission from Maribel, he was allowed into the Izerland palace.

He had just arrived last night with Christy, who was fitted with a rotor.

Ascending the wide white stone staircase, he was led inside through the door.

At the far end, after passing through several corridors──Maribel’s office door seemed cozier than when he saw it last night.

Upon entering, he saw the young blonde princess signing documents at her desk.

Nearby, a lady in her forties and the same young guard stood quietly.

It was a rather lonely room for a Margrave’s office.

There were few people and few objects.

 ”──Ah, Kian. You’ve come.”

”Yes. I’ve come to take the quest.”

”Let’s pause the work for now. Thank you.”

 ”……”

The lady accepts the documents, bows deeply, and leaves.

Maribel stood up and walked over to Kian.

 ”────”

Looking at her again, even though she is still young, she has a face that suggests she will be beautiful in the future.

Long golden hair and eyebrows of the same color.

He also can see her smooth forehead.

Her dark blue eyes are kind and her nose is pointy.

Her lips were plump like strawberries.

Although she is still young, she has a somewhat mature air about her.

He’s always curious to know what it’s like under her skirt.

She has white heels, but she is wearing socks.

It seems she’s wearing knee-high socks with garters, just like Christy.

It was a look far too disrespectful to direct at the Queen of the Frontier, but the difference in physical ability and skill between her and Maribel was so great that she didn’t notice.

As he thought so, a young guard standing nearby steps in between them.

Kian took a step back and he stepped back.

 ”How is Christy?”

She asked with a worried look on her face.

”After a good night’s sleep, she seemed fine this morning. She had a proper breakfast, so I think she’s okay.”

”I see… I’m worried. I tend to rely on Christy a bit too much. But she’s not a superhuman. I should have noticed her fatigue sooner.”

”Please, direct those words not to me, but to Ms. Christy.”

”Ah… You’re right. I’ll express my gratitude and apologies as soon as she returns. I hope I can use teleportation soon too.”

He noticed the guard’s mouth twitch at Maribel’s words.

 He understand his feelings.

It would be better not to teach this princess teleportation for at least 5 more years.

”Your Excellency, I apologize for interrupting, but I’ve come to investigate the cause of the tremors in the manor.”

”That’s right. As I mentioned before, it’s noted in the request. For about a month now, there have been subtle tremors underground. According to the library’s records, my residence wasn’t built where a lake used to be. It seems McCutchen had the maids investigate the underground pantry, but nothing significant was found. The tremors might be originating from beneath the food storage.”

”We can’t start without checking the site first. Could you guide me?”

 ”Sure. Liam, accompany us.”

 ”Yes!”

 The guard responds energetically.

He’s lively, but his training is still low.

They look just like the guards playing cards in the East End.

 ”This way”

Kian walks beside Maribel who is walking ahead of him quietly.

A sweet fragrance wafted from her.

(Hmm… ‘glasses’, why don’t you have the ability to see through things?)

’What is wrong with your mind?’

(Well, you may have noticed by now, but I’m a huge fan of cunnilingus. I like breasts, but I prefer girls with plump lower bodies. Even if they’re young ones.)

’I see. I understand your preferences. I will take them into consideration.’

(For now, I’m curious about the line from Maribel’s backside to her knees. I wonder if she’s wearing white thigh-highs with garters.)

”Kian? You’ve had a serious look on your face for a while, is something bothering you?”

”Yes. I heard there have been continuous earthquakes underground, which likely means some sort of magic tool is buried there. I’ve handled similar requests before.”

”Oh! So you have insights on how to deal with the situation. As expected of an expert!”

 ”Thank you.”

 (It’s all a lie, though.)

’You only speak lies, don’t you?’

(Well, I wonder if Maribel has pubic hair. What kind of scent would it have? I’m a sinful man for thinking such things.)

Now, the 3 of them exited through the back door into the courtyard after passing through the hallway.

The courtyard was mostly flat, with only annual flowers planted in the flowerbeds.

Compared to the lavish reception hall filled with large plants from tropical regions, it was overwhelmingly plain.

Maribel pointed to a small wooden door in the corner of the courtyard.

”We can enter the underground pantry from there.”

”Thank you. Then let’s commence the investigation.”

 ”Please wait.”

 ”What’s…?”

Kian wasn’t the only one who looked back with a suspicious look.

The young guard turned to the blonde princess at almost the same time.

The golden circlet on her head sparkles.

Maribel smiled, flashing her white teeth.

”You’ll need a guide, so I’ll accompany you. Exploring the basement is so exciting!”
