Rising-Monk v3c125-2

Volume 3 Chapter 125-2 The Wandering Straight Punch II

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Among the warrior monks standing here, one who clearly radiated a different, black energy (ki) took a step toward Kian.

He was the bald-headed warrior monk who had attacked in the communal graveyard.

He held his black shamshir horizontally in front of his body, grinning in joy.

”I’m glad you weren’t defeated by Linca.”

”That was a beautiful display of skill.”

”You endured her attack knowing you couldn’t win.”

 ”That is worthy of respect.”

 ”Thank you.”

When Kian said this in a voice without any emotion, a warrior monk with long black hair stepped forward next to the bald-headed warrior monk. The long-haired warrior monk muttered something softly, then──his eyes turned completely black.

It was not that his pupils were black.

All of his visible eyeballs were black.

As Kian, wary of what could be some kind of Magic Eye, was on alert, the long-haired warrior monk began speaking in a clear voice.

 ”Good evening, brother.”

* * *

 ”────!”

”Good evening, brother. After Châtillon, to meet again in such a northern land must surely be the guidance of Azrael.”

 ”Jibril, is it…?”

The long-haired man restrained the bald-headed warrior monk with his right hand.

The bald-headed warrior monk respectfully bowed his head and took a step back.

 ”Jibril.”

Kian felt a strange, thrilling sensation in his blood.

 ”So it is Jibril!?”

”It’s a technique called summoning. It’s as if my consciousness is being lowered into this man. It was developed inspired by Azrael’s old whirling dance. You understand what the whirling dance is, don’t you?”

”It’s a religious dance that causes dizziness by disturbing the inner ear’s sensory organs. The dizziness and feeling of floating were once thought to be a mystical union with the divine, so it was performed for a time.”

”As expected of you, brother. You are well-versed.”

The man who had become Jibril’s puppet laughed quietly.

His laugh was just the same as Jibril’s in Kian’s memories.

”In any case, let’s have you come along. Will you quietly surrender?”

 ”I firmly refuse.”

”I do not want to harm your body if possible. Will you not listen?”

”Rather, where in this world would there be someone who would quietly surrender, saying, ‘Yes, I understand’?”

When Kian said this, Jibril smiled.

”I see. Then you will have to experience a little pain. ────It looks like this will be a perfect performance test. Look, my brother, at these people.”

Starting with the bald-headed warrior monk, the presence of the surrounding warrior monks turned dangerous.

The warrior monk possessed by Jibril widened his pitch-black eyes and wore a face full of joy, showing his gums.

”This is my pride and joy! Especially, Shura is quite good at absorbing magic power. Ah, Shura is this bald-headed one here. He’s not quite as good as my brother, but… Hehe, I think he’s pretty strong.”

”Absorbing magic power? Jibril, how do you know that?”

Noticing the secret being pointed out, a murderous light began to shine in Kian’s eyes.

Without answering, Jibril spread his hands and gave orders to the surrounding warrior monks.

”Capture my brother. It’s fine if you handle him roughly, as long as he doesn’t die.”

 ”──────!”

If Kian listened to Jibril’s words until the end, he would be too late to make a move.

Before the warrior monks began to move, Kian rushed toward Jibril’s puppet.

First, he would take down the commander.

Since there was a chance of being dodged if he gathered his energy (ki), he would not use ‘Pursuit of the Shadow.’

He would simply jump straight and step on the second step.

Once he took the second step, he would enter the range of Windsong Blade before the third step.

Kian swung the magic sword, which wept in the night breeze, horizontally.

However, just as he was about to face the puppet, the bald-headed man intervened.

With an incredibly swift movement, it looked as if the bald warrior monk had suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He quickly gathered energy (ki) and, with the scimitar wrapped in ‘impact’, deflected the trajectory of the Windsong Blade from below to above. The magic sword was forced to change direction drastically, and Kian, who did not want to expose his vulnerable torso in front of Jibril, jumped into the air with a judgment made in the moment of Leap.

Using the force of the deflected scimitar, he leaped over Jibril’s puppet and easily escaped the encircling ring.

”Do not forget that your comrades are in the Hall!”

A voice following him, sounding leisurely.

Kian, using the wind blades of the Windsong Blade, widened the hole in the roof made when Sarah blasted the teleportation array, and with a semicircular trajectory, he jumped down into it.

”We do not need puppets waiting for instructions. Everyone move as they see fit and corner him.”

The start of this night──Barghest landed on the pedestal, having teleported from ‘Storm Herd.’

The amount of blast explosives Sarah had set up was too much, causing part of the surrounding Wall to collapse, and the ground had turned into a heap of rubble. Kian frowned at the still sloppy work but had to appreciate that, in this case, Sarah’s roughness was working in their favor.

Kian skillfully bounced over the rubble, spun his body widely, and as the warrior monks who had jumped down to chase him landed, he fired off the blade of the Windsong Blade at them.

It was not a strike from the magic sword.

It was a medium-range magic attack with wind blades.

The two warrior monks, who were targeted during the moment of landing, were sliced in half, and while the other 2 who descended managed to counter the blades with ‘Shot’, they were frozen in place due to the added effect of ice.

(As for the structure of this corridor, I have already grasped it in order to capture Barghest.)

Kian relentlessly struck the wind blades, keeping the descending warrior monks at bay.

Only the first 2 were able to be cut down. The next 2 rushed toward Kian while forming frost on their priest robes. The following ones were perfectly dodged using ‘threads.’ Up to that point, the action to catch the landing moment was interrupted, and now they had to deal with enemies charging while drawing their swords.

Kian put the ‘glasses’ hanging around his collar onto his face.

He felt a throb of the black factors inside his body, and a sense of omnipotence dominated his brain.

However, he calmly suppressed it and focused on the warriors rushing through the pitch-dark corridor. These individuals had a very faint presence. However, for Kian, who was wearing ‘glasses,’ their blood vessels coursing through their entire bodies appeared emphasized in red.

Now, Kian was not the one being hunted.

Since he does not possess the same perfect invincibility ‘penetration’ ability as Linca, he is the one doing the hunting.

 ”────”

Kian stood in the center of a narrow passage, evaded the first warrior monk’s Shamshir by using his usual method of Mist Form.

Windsong Blade produced a sharp sound, and the opponent read the trajectory of the blade swinging down from the angle of Kian’s raised arm. Likely, they planned to attack with the limited ‘Penetration’ on their target area, aiming to penetrate through.

However, he had no intention of bringing the fight into close combat at this point.

Kian used ‘threads’ to spin his body to the right, then climbed up the wall of the corridor while drawing the sheath of Windsong Blade from his waist.

Then, reaching the ceiling, he threw himself into the air and, at the same time, sheathed the crying magic sword inside the sheath. The sound of the magic sword echoed through the corridor and suddenly stopped, replaced by a quiet whisper filling the darkness.

Kian, now turned into mist, landed at the back of the last line of the warrior monks stand in the corridor.
