Volume 3 Chapter 139-4 Exciting Infidelity

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”Yes. Since Sir Jibril is a warrior monk who has been adjusted, I taught him from the basics to the advanced techniques.”

Linca spoke slowly, her eyes fixed on the floor.

”In the end, the one who understood quickly was taught ‘Penetration.’ He finished the training fast.”

She paused, her voice faint and dry.

”Sorry. I guess that makes me your disciple’s revenge.”

Kian let out a weak laugh, his tone a little bitter.

”I don’t feel that strongly about being a disciple. They probably didn’t care much about me either.”

He looked away from her, then back again with a sigh.

”Well, in the end, I was kicked out of the temple by Shura.”

 ”I see.”

Kian nodded. Then, Linca folding her arms loosely.

”What happened to the Azraelian woman and the Wolfmen woman?”

”They escaped with the Barghest. Do you know them?”

Kian tilted his head, asking quietly.

 Linca shook her head.

”It’s rare for warrior monks from different factions to know each other’s identity. There’s no benefit in sharing names or information.”

 ”I see.”

Kian nodded again, his voice softer this time.

”But as far as I understand,” Linca added, “Sir Jibril has no backup forces. Christophora’s body needed to be broken and then rebuilt. So, for now, the danger has been removed.”

”…Should you really say things like that?”

Kian’s voice dropped to a cautious tone.

Linca shrugged one shoulder, a sly smile tugging at her lips.

”Maybe I’m lying. Believe me or don’t. It’s your choice.”

 ”Then I believe you.”

”It’s crazy to trust a woman who’s only had s*x three times, Sir Kian.”

Her words carried a mocking tone, but she didn’t meet his eyes.

”I wouldn’t believe any other woman.”

 Kian’s voice was firm.

 ”I believed you, Linca.”

He stared at her, his eyes calm but unwavering. Linca’s cheeks turned pink, and she quickly looked away.

 ”Please go now.”

She turned her back to him.

”I want to examine the blood I collected from you.”

 ”Yeah. Well then.”

Kian gave her a final nod before stepping out of the cave’s glowing barrier.

Outside, Wing Cain waited, wings folded but ready. As Kian approached, Cain flapped his wings hard and took to the sky, Kian flying alongside him.

Up in the air, Kian looked down at the ground far below. He noticed Linca had come out and was waving her tiny hand at him. Even with only moonlight lighting the world, he could see her face clearly. The fusion with the Night Wraith seemed to be complete.

Kian gave Cain a signal and began flying faster.

Soon, the cave was gone from view.

(Once I get close to the ancient temple, I’ll get off Cain and run.)

 Kian narrowed his eyes.

(If I don’t, Sarah might get suspicious.)

His entire body had been waxed smooth while he slept. Even though he was dressed, his face looked strange with no chin hair or beard left. Out of curiosity, he had let Linca do it. She had chased new pleasures, and in the end, he let her take full control. Now, the hair wouldn’t grow back, no matter how much he regretted it.

(Well… If my vampire body can regenerate, I should be able to grow the beard back.)

’It’s as hard as growing claws for weapons.’

A small voice echoed in his head.

 (Oh. You again, glasses.)

 ’I just woke up. You’re always doing it. S*x, s*x, s*x.’

 (Sorry. I’m a talking dick.)

’Why does someone like this one fall for someone like you? Is this really what I want in life…?’

The ancient magic glasses muttered something rude.

But she was just an object. No matter how hard she spoke, her voice could never wound him.

”Without a beard, you suddenly look like some pretty boy.”

 ”Stop it!”

 Kian shouted into the air.

”There are jokes and then there are crimes!”

He let go of Wing Cain.

The wind rushed past him as he dropped through the air.

They had finally reached the edge of the ancient temple’s domain. He landed on a muddy slope, stumbled once, and then began sprinting up the hill. He was trying to sweat as much as he could, smearing dirt on his body. It was all part of the cover-up.

* * *

 It felt like cheating.

Kian’s heart beat fast as he walked through the corridor guarded by Yelmar’s subordinates. He went down the wide stone stairs into the left wing of the courtyard.

Sarah’s magical aura was intense. It weighed on him like a storm about to burst.

(But it’s fine. There were no eyes on me. I bathed, scrubbed off all the fluids, and ran through dirt to mask my scent. Even Serena shouldn’t be able to tell I had do it with another woman.)

They weren’t engaged. Sarah had made it clear that even if she wanted to marry him, she didn’t have to be the first wife.

Kian lifted his chin, putting on a face of confidence.

He had done nothing wrong—at least, not in his own eyes.

He stepped into the left wing’s hallway.

The air there was thick and dangerous, like walking into a trap.

He heard the creaking of moving metal.

Sarah’s golems were up and awake, walking beyond the hallway.

 Gross.

Sarah had a habit of spitting bugs.

 Sometimes, she even touched poop.

(But she’s a kind girl. She tries her best. I shouldn’t think rude thoughts about her.)

Kian rubbed his face with his hands, trying to relax the tension.

He bounced on the balls of his feet, psyching himself up.

”Alright. I’m going in. Sarah should still be awake.”

 ’Hurry up already.’

The voice in his head nudged him forward.

 ”Okay, okay! Let’s do this!”

 Kian ran through the hallway.

His boots slapped against the stone floor. Shadows danced on the walls as he passed. He finally reached the last room—the one with the dim, flickering candle.

Inside, as always, was Ninini sleeping quietly and Vestacia, still sealed in crystal.

 Bugs swarmed lazily around Ninini.

Sarah sat in a chair, flipping through a thick book like nothing was wrong.

Kian took a breath and stepped closer.

 ”Hey, Sarah.”

Sarah looked up from her book and smiled.

”Oh, Kian. What brings you here?”

She closed the book and stood up gently.

She didn’t seem surprised. In fact, she looked happy.

Kian thought she must have sensed his approach already.

(Of course. There’s no way she wouldn’t.)

”I just came to check on you.”

 He kept his voice light.

”Have you been here the whole time?”

”Yeah. I ate here. And I think… I don’t need to use the toilet.”

She spoke like it was totally normal.

”That’s good. The night’s long. It gets boring fast.”

Kian glanced around, then turned back to her.

 ”How’s Ninini’s life support?”

Sarah rolled her shoulders, still calm.

”I had the golem take care of it. After you all left, I made it right away.”

She gestured toward a large machine in the corner.

”It’s only temporary, though. There’s a high chance it’ll break. So I have to watch it closely. I’ll make a better one soon. Then I can go back to the Quest.”

 ”I see.”

 Kian nodded slowly.

”You’re amazing, Sarah. You always figure things out, no matter what happens.”

”You can praise me more, you know.”

Her face lit up with joy.

”I’m really happy when you rely on me.”

Sarah gave him a sweet smile.

 Then her gaze shifted.

She looked at Kian’s dirty clothes and sweaty skin. But what caught her attention most was his perfectly smooth face.

 She reached out without thinking.

Her fingertips moved closer to his chin.

Character Notes:

• Linca – Jibril’s favorite girl. High-ranking warrior monk woman from Shin, with strong abilities like ignoring attacks and poisons.

• Christophora – The right-hand subordinate of Jibril (Kian’s brother), a small girl with short silver hair and mismatched blue and yellow eyes who refers to herself as ‘boku,’ rumored to be a product of shady Vahid family experiments, and involved in secretly selling monsters as a merchant; she also brought in Yorlund (the Wolfman assassin) under a mercenary contract that seemed more like a transaction of ‘goods.’

• Serena – Wolfmen Girl
