She put her hands behind her back and popped up in front of Kian, looking up at his clothes and smiling.
”Wow, you look cool!”
”Ms. Priscilla measured me perfectly.”
”The equipment is good, but it looks different when the person wearing it is cool. If Lord Blumer wore this equipment, it wouldn’t suit him at all.”
”Hey, Priscilla.”
”Lord Blumer is already inside with sister-in-law. He can’t hear you. By the way, I have some shocking news for you and Lord Kian. The hairy beastman who was supposed to participate in today’s gladiatorial match was found this morning with his head split open. A replacement gladiator will be sent from the merchant guild.”
”What? I didn’t hear anything about that.”
Guy frowned with his thick eyebrows.
Priscilla shrugged her thin shoulders in her black dress.
”They say it’s okay because they’re replacing him.”
”How is it possible that a gladiator was killed? Who did it?”
”The slave owner is talking to the Commune right now. Are you going to go?”
”Sorry, I will, Priscilla.”
Guy was already picking up his fur coat.
”Priscilla, please take care of Lord Kian. Kian, sorry, but I’ll go find out what’s going on and we’ll have to say goodbye here. I have to go to the stands after hearing the Commune’s story.”
”Understood.”
”Okay. See you later.”
”Yes. Excuse me.”
The big man put on his crown and quickly left the tent.
Only Priscilla, waving her hand, and Kian, expressionless, were left behind.
”What do you mean?”
”What do you mean?”
”About the night before yesterday. Why did you give me to Mrs. Fhana? I almost had s*x.”
Kian raised his eyebrows and said so, and the witch put her hand with the black umbrella on her waist and chuckled.
”Why? Well, it’s because my sister-in-law wished for it. A witch grants wishes, you know, in exchange for a price. Lord Kian, Fhana is starving for entertainment, craving the flames of a burning romance. Have you heard the story of her being leftover in the capital city?”
”They say she is 34 years old now.”
”Fhana came here the year I graduated from the academy in the capital──7 years ago now. In the peaceful capital, it’s not that rare for a woman from high society to be unmarried at 27. But she is in a checkmate situation. In just a few years, her father could send her to a bishopric city, forcing her into a life of abstinence in a monastery──it wouldn’t be surprising at all.”
Priscilla walked around Kian with a crisp sound, continuing her thoughts.
”With her personality, she didn’t have a great reputation among the ‘traditional’ men who prefer virgins… When my father beat the cardinal in a bet, the cardinal took the chance to get rid of Fhana. She may believe she willingly became a dragon’s sacrificial offering, but deep down, she must know she was just discarded as leftover.”
The white-haired witch stopped with a clack, looking up at Kian.
”I feel sorry for her. After all this time holding back, I think she should be allowed to do as she pleases. If it’s between a rough man forcing himself on Fhana or letting her have freedom, it’s pretty clear which is the better choice, right?”
”────”
”Please don’t look at me like that. I’m not trying to be your enemy. To prove it, let me tell you about the person who’s taking the place of the slain hairy foreigner in today’s tournament. It’s Katyusha. She’s the best warrior monk under Abbas Shakerdoust. Katyusha from the black panther tribe will fight you tonight in place of the dead man.”
”What?!”
”I don’t know their goals. But it seems certain that they plan to win and take away the prizes and cash. I was asked again by Demete for a deal. They want to bring in the weapons Katyusha will use.”
”I don’t think Lord Guy knows, but I don’t have to report it.”
”――――.”
”This is bad. Trading with the enemy general without permission. As Lord Guy’s friend, I should tell him everything about his sister’s betrayal.”
Kian said this calmly, and Priscilla narrowed her black eyes.
”Don’t tell Guy. And you, too, don’t have to report it.”
A lot of magic power oozed from her body.
The thick magic power, like sludge, summoned 2 skeleton people, a man and a woman, in stylish suits from the darkness.
The entrance to the tent closed by itself, and the skeletons approached Kian from both sides.
”I was just trying to be nice and tell you about Katyusha’s weapons, but if you want to fight me, I have to use my power to defend myself.”
Priscilla smiled.
Her shadow, lit by the lantern’s flame, was no longer human.
It was the shape of a strange dragon with wings and tentacles.
Kian looked at Priscilla’s shadow on the white cloth of the tent and shook his head.
”I don’t want to fight with Ms. Priscilla. I’m the one who did the bl**job, so it’s my fault.”
”Oh, good. I’m glad you won’t tell on him.”
Priscilla’s magic power disappeared.
The skeleton people in stylish suits and dresses also disappeared, melting into the air, and the entrance to the tent opened.
The white-haired witch looked really relieved.
”You traded something very valuable with Demete, didn’t you?”
”Oh, you know? I regret being too greedy. But what’s done is done, so I have to take care of him while he’s here. They say you should be careful with contracts. I want to trade with a loyal man like Lord Kian next time, not that guy.”
”You must save Sarah properly. You’re free to go bankrupt with the contract with Demete, but please keep your promise to me first.”
”You don’t have to tell me.”
Priscilla raised her gloved hand and shrugged her shoulders.
She closed her open umbrella and placed her hands on her hips.
”So? Is that all the gear you have? If it’s good enough, I can show you to the waiting room. On the way, I’ll give you information about Katyusha’s weapons and the other opponent you’ll face in today’s tournament.”
”Please guide me. And──”
”…? What is it?”
The white-haired witch frowned as she looked at Kian’s outstretched right hand.
”Can we make up? I’ve been worried about making you do that… you know.”
”Really? I can’t tell if Lord Kian is a beast or a gentleman. But I’d like to make up too. I’ve secretly been thinking that pushing Fhana was a bit too much.”
(It was definitely too much. What a crazy woman she is.)
Even though he thought that, Kian smiled and took the witch’s hand.
As she widened her eyes at his strong grip, he winked and spoke cheerfully.
”Don’t worry about it. But if Ms. Priscilla wants me to take responsibility, I’ll gladly do it. Serving a beautiful woman like you as a Knight is truly my honor.”
”I can only see your ulterior motives… But I guess you’re right. I can’t call Fhana an old maid anymore. With my personality, no one would want to marry me. Maybe becoming Lord Kian’s personal Head Magician is a serious option.”
”Huh?”
He expected her to respond with, “Yeah, yeah, you’re such a flirt,” but instead, she gave a serious reply, leaving him a bit surprised.
Meanwhile, Priscilla continued with a soft smile.
”Lord Kian, I am a typical witch who graduated top of my class from both the Spirit Studies and Ritual Magic Departments in the royal city. I think I can do almost everything that other witches can do. Oh, but I probably can’t make potions as well as Christina. If needed, I’ll study and get my Sage qualification. I have 5 years of experience as the Head Magician in Châtillon and 2 years as the lead magician. I manage the forbidden library and specialize in researching necromancy and methods for eternal life. I own 3 casinos and have a lot of gold coins in the bank. My looks and body are just like this. I’m good at making small items, but cooking isn’t my strong suit… But since I’ve lived a lady’s life for so long, I’m sure I’ll get better with practice. Also, I’m more of a supporter of harems. My desires are pretty strong, and I might often seek you out. Yeah… even saying it myself, I think I’m a decent catch, except for my not-so-great personality. So, how about it? Would you like to come to my place as my husband?”
”W-wait… I was just joking! I could never be Ms. Priscilla’s husband. I’m just a low-ranking adventurer, and Lord Renaud and Lord Guy would totally oppose it.”
”But Guy might actually support it, right? Since he’s been praising you since he got here! Oh, but my father seems to dislike Lord Kian, so if we’re going to marry, we need to convince him.”
Priscilla said this and then smiled cutely one last time.
”────”
Kian couldn’t think of a reply.
As he stood frozen, she looked up at him and spoke again in a strangely bright voice.
”──But that was all a joke! Ahahaha! Did I catch you?”
”…I did fall for it, but I’m glad it was just a joke.”
”Hehehe.”
The white-haired witch laughed with unreadable eyes and pulled Kian’s arm.
”Well then, let’s go. The match will start in less than an hour. Show me your cool side, darling♡”
