Volume 10 Chapter 70 Decisive Battle! vs. Vampire Princess Viola
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Dammit… that hurts!”
Klock lay sprawled atop the wreckage of what had once been a rooftop.
He groaned, shifting his weight over the jagged debris as he surveyed the devastation around him.
It looked as though a violent squall had just ripped through the city.
No, “squall” was too mild a word—it was a deluge. A catastrophe.
As if a landslide had met a levee breach, the world within his sight had been utterly demolished.
”Are you unharmed, my Lord?” Flavia asked, descending gracefully to his side.
Despite her light, sandal-like footwear, she didn’t seem particularly bothered by the fact that the area had been transformed into a literal swamp.
”Yeah,” Klock grunted.
Beside him stood Primlena, still cradling Klock in her arms.
She had protected him throughout the chaos—effectively using her chest as a soft, living shield—and she accepted Flavia’s praise with a humble nod.
”Primlena,” Flavia continued, “I knew the sea was a Merfolk’s undisputed domain, but thisⁿ power is staggering. Even as a fellow magic-user, I am in awe.”
”You flatter me, Forest Princess,” Primlena replied. “As I said, I am a woman of the sea. This is really my only saving grace.”
Klock had given the order: Use the Dragon-Breath Tiered Waveⁿ to level Sanrid.
Being a coastal city, the scale of the resulting Land Tsunamiⁿ had exceeded even his expectations, blanketing the streets and sweeping away the low-flying Vampires like dust in the wind.
(Good grief, you’re a reckless one, aren’t you? I nearly drowned back there…)
A raspy voice echoed in his mind.
It seemed Lizamis had survived as well.
Klock wondered briefly if a “stain” could actually drown, or if she just sort of dissolved into the water if submerged for too long.
”I hope the others are okay,” he muttered.
He reached the northern wall, where the corridors were overflowing with the wounded.
Men lay in long rows, groaning in pain, their uniforms stained a deep, visceral crimson.
”Is there anyone left who isn’t bleeding?” Klock muttered, his brow furrowing.
He had fought in the Star Fortress, the Portline ambush, and the Great Wall Corridorⁿ, but he couldn’t remember a time they had taken losses this severe.
Suddenly, a foot connected with Klock’s back, sending him tumbling across the stone floor of the wall.
He scrambled to his feet, heart hammering, only to find a girl in a soaked, tattered red dress standing there.
”Ahahaha! You couldn’t even dodge that? You’re such a scrub!”
”You little…!”
It was her. One of the Three Great Beauties of the Demon Continent: Princess Viola.
She stood there smirking at him like a bratty child.
”Man, look at this place,” Viola said, acting as if they were just catching up for coffee. “One minute it’s a beautiful sea of blood, the next it’s a giant pile of trash. You really went overboard, Goldfish Princess. You’re more like a dragon with the way you wreck stuff.”
”I’ll take that as a compliment,” Primlena sighed, brushing the wet fabric of his trousers.
”Yo, Viola. Nice to see you’re still breathing.”
”Back atcha. But seriously, do you really have the luxury to be acting all ‘cool’ and worrying about Vio-Vio?”
”I’m trying to recruit you, remember? If you died, I’d be crying my eyes out for a week.”
”Gross! No way! Vio-Vio is the moon-type villainess every girl looks up to. Don’t think I’m that easy!”
She took a cautious half-step back, adjusting her distance.
The banter was over; the next round was about to begin.
(I can’t just conquer a girl like this. She needs to be defeated and dominated… if I don’t win decisively, she’ll never follow me.)
In other words, despite arriving late, Viola was acting like she ran the show¹.
Primlena, Flavia, and Kispe—the women in Klock’s camp—certainly wouldn’t find her arrogance amusing.
”Even if you say that… I can’t take her down even if I want to,” Klock muttered.
”Captaaaaain!! Captain, where are youuuuu!!” a voice screamed.
”Huh? What is it?” Klock barked.
The desperate shouts of a soldier echoed across the area.
Both Klock and Viola instinctively turned around.
”Captain!! It’s Monsters!! An army of Monsters is closing in from the north!!”
”────What did you say??”
Klock scrambled to the battlements and peered out into the night.
The darkness had coalesced into a massive, black tide, surging forward like a wave.
He could almost hear the low, guttural growls vibrating in the air.
It was a scene ripped straight from his nightmares—the same sight he’d witnessed at the Star Fortress when they had stood against tens of thousands.
This was, without a shadow of a doubt, a Monster army.
”It’s probably the Count,” Viola remarked casually.
”The Count?!” Klock replied.
”The Count definitely relied on that old man Bandanzine to seal the deal. Or maybe it’s just spite because you slashed him earlier? He’s clearly the type to never let a grudge go. That’s just the brand of petty you get with the Moon Court Nobility²,” Viola added.
The Demon Lord’s Army must have stationed the Monsters near the northern fort cluster—the very site where the Star Fortress once stood, back when the Brigante maintained the line.
They were likely a contingency for a retreat from Orrid or a reserve for an assault on Sanrid.
Now, at the Count’s request, those legions were marching south.
(Damn it, Barnea…!! If only I’d finished him off back then. I never imagined he’d use a tidal wave of Monsters to bury us just to make sure the job was done.)
”By the way, just so you know—”
”What?” Klock asked.
”RugRug and the others are currently regrouping our kin. The attack should resume any minute now,” Viola said.
Klock had suspected as much.
Viola had arrived alone and acted completely nonchalant; he’d already figured the Rugandia group was safe.
However, this was catastrophic.
Dealing with her group was a nightmare on its own, but an entire army of Monsters arriving now was a death sentence.
”Which means I’ve got to beat the hell out of you in a hurry. I don’t make a habit of hitting women, but the fastest way to handle a loud-mouthed bitch who won’t listen is a good slap to the face,” Klock growled.
”Try it, you pathetic human male. I’ll drain every drop of your blood and turn you into my vampire thrall with excruciating care,” Viola taunted.
Klock threw out the provocation, and Viola took her stance, ready for blood.
Even with his bravado, the situation was suffocatingly dire.
She clearly saw right through his desperation; the smirk on her face was pure villainy.
However, Klock’s decision to force the engagement himself wasn’t without reason.
Even if the stars fell, Klock couldn’t beat Viola in a fair fight.
He was merely buying time for the reinforcements he’d spotted.
”Spada!”
Viola cartwheeled away as a blade slammed into the stone where she’d just been standing.
A woman with white pupils landed in a crouch, her eyes snapping open as she stood.
”I am your opponent,” the newcomer said.
”Just the kind of insanely hot girl I like. Now I’m actually getting motivated,” Viola smirked.
Because their heights were similar, the two looked like teenage girls of the same age.
In reality, they were twenty-six and one hundred thirty-two years old respectively.
As the Vampire Princess and the Forest Princess squared off, the chaos only intensified.
”Lightning Style – Catwalk!!”
”Whoa?!”
Lightning skittered across the ground.
Viola dodged with a backflip, parrying a follow-up kick with the palm of her hand.
”Hiss!!”
”Hey, MinMin, can we drop the hissing?? It makes me feel like the cats hate me, and it’s actually hurting my feelings!!” Viola complained.
”……Hiss!!” Meina snarled.
Meina attacked without mercy.
It wasn’t magic, but a raw, physical blitz.
She blurred across the stone, unleashing a flurry of punches that the Vampire Princess tracked and dodged with frustrating ease.
Suddenly, two spears thudded into the ground at Viola’s feet.
”Release (Liberazione)!”
The spears split open, revealing glowing cores of magical energy that shimmered like refined ore.
”Ossa Blu—Blue Bones.”
One spear pulsed with a deep blue light.
In an instant, bone-like projectiles erupted from the shaft.
Viola twisted mid-air to avoid them, and where the “bones” struck the stone, the floor blackened and dissolved.
”Ugh, that stinks!! What the hell is that?? Acid??” Viola gagged. (That is Magic fashioned after insect venom; it liquefies anything it touches. If you take a direct hit from Flavia, even an apostle will suffer massive damage.)
It was a grotesque technique.
Taking a direct hit meant a permanent injury, regardless of who you were.
In a one-on-one fight, her lethality was terrifying.
…No, it’s nasty and impressive, but… Lizamis.
Your assessment is wrong.
Viola’s predatory gaze snapped to Klock.
She was preparing her Vampiric Cursed Eye, capitalizing on the small opening after Flavia’s volley.
This was bad. He was the weakest link physically, and she was moving in for the kill.
Suddenly, the air in front of Klock distorted. A shimmering ripple of water rose up to shield him.
”Gah?!”
Water drawn from the surroundings surged out, covering Meina and Flavia as well.
Simultaneously, the prongs of a trident thrust toward Viola’s face, missing her by a hair’s breadth.
”Primlena!!” Klock shouted.
Flavia, Meina, and Primlena now stood in a perfect perimeter around Viola.
”Coming here alone was a fatal mistake. Did you really think you had a chance against the three of us??” Primlena asked, leveling her spear.
Flavia retrieved her Magic spear while Meina crouched on all fours atop the battlement like a predator.
Her tail was rigid, her slit pupils locked onto Viola.
”Heh────. I came here because I know I can take you!!” Viola laughed.
Klock readied his knife, watching the Vampire Princess face down all four of them without a hint of fear.
* * *
”Son of a bitch!!”
Ada scrambled back up the ladder she had just climbed down, reaching the top of the wall with a face like she’d chewed on a bitter bug.
She waited for the soldiers outside to retreat, her face twisted in a snarl that lacked any hint of femininity.
”Just how many of them are there?!” Ada screamed.
”M-Ms. Ada…!!” a soldier stammered.
”Are you kidding me?? Do they have a damn map of our every move?!”
Things going sideways on a battlefield was expected, but this was ridiculous.
They had enemies popping up inside the camp, aerial assaults, and now a literal army of Monsters.
From what she could see, there were at least ten thousand of them.
No large-scale Monsters were visible yet, but the sheer numbers were suffocating.
The Brigante Troops were in tatters; of the original thousand, maybe half were still standing.
”We can’t even run. What the hell are we supposed to do now!!”
Despair spread among the soldiers like a plague.
It was obvious the situation was irreversible.
Even Ada, sensing her own end, couldn’t stop the venom in her voice.
”It’s because of that Land Tsunami. The gates are jammed and the horses are gone,” a soldier moaned.
Most of the mounts they’d ridden to Sanrid had been swallowed by the Land Tsunami.
They couldn’t confirm survivors, and even if the horses were alive, the gates wouldn’t budge.
Besides, you couldn’t outrun beasts on horseback anyway.
”We shouldn’t have come into the heart of enemy territory!! We’re like rats in a trap!!”
”Yeah, we should’ve just gone to Orrid!! It’s because the Captain got cocky that—”
”Shut your damn mouths!!” Ada roared, her fury silencing the dissent.
”Don’t you start with that bullshit now!! Just because we’re being squeezed doesn’t mean you get to turn on your own!!”
”You knew the odds were against us from the jump!! We chose a sneak attack because we couldn’t win a fair fight. You all signed up for this risk!!”
”But Ms. Ada…!!”
”Don’t ‘but’ me!! Save your breath for the Empire in the North that didn’t send a single man to help!! We’ve scrapped and crawled to get this far, and we’re in the thick of it now. That’s all there is to it!!”
Ada felt the same terror they did, but she knew how this ended.
She’d fought for the Golden Count and seen the Sanrid defeat firsthand.
Once a unit loses its nerve, they stop being soldiers and start being corpses.
”This isn’t just any troop. We’ve got people here connected to the Hero!! That Land Tsunami from earlier?? One of ours did that. We haven’t lost yet. It’s going to suck, but give me just a little more grit!!”
”S-She’s right. If we can trigger another Land Tsunami again, we can wipe those Monsters out…!!”
”No, that’s probably not gonna happen. They’re outside the walls.”
”But if we have a Magic user who can pull that off, we still have a puncher’s chance…!!”
A spark of defiance returned to the men.
The Great Earth Tsunami was their trump card, and as long as it existed, they weren’t finished.
(But realistically, we’re out of moves. How do we come back from this? Normally, this is a total wipeout. You’d better have one more miracle in you, Klock Livorno…!!)

Summary:
Klock navigates the muddy ruins of Sanrid after unleashing a devastating magical flood to wipe out the Vampire forces. While regrouping with Flavia and Ada at the city wall, he confronts the massive casualties suffered by his own troops. The tension peaks when the Vampire Princess Viola suddenly appears, engaging Klock in a cocky, high-stakes verbal sparring session.
A massive army of monsters, summoned by Count Barnea, besieges the fort, cutting off escape. Klock and his allies face Viola, the Vampire Princess, in a high-stakes duel on the ramparts. Ada struggles to maintain order and morale among the panicked soldiers on the wall.
—
Trivia:
- The flood was a calculated gamble that trapped the Vampires because they lack mirrors to retreat to the Moon Court.
- Primlena, the Merfolk, was the only reason the main party didn’t drown in their own attack.
- Ada is an A-rank adventurer whose combat skills are noted to be on par with Meina’s.
- Viola refers to herself in the third person as ‘Vio-Vio’, a sign of her childish yet narcissistic personality.
- The ‘Star Fortress’ was once a Brigante stronghold, highlighting the tragic loss of their territory.
- Viola is much older than she looks (132 vs 10s look).
- The ‘Land Tsunami’ caused by Klock’s team was a double-edged sword that prevented their own escape.
- Flavia’s ‘Blue Bones’ magic mimics insect venom, implying a bio-magical research origin

Character Insight:
Klock’s motivation is shifting from simple survival to a desire for domination; he realizes that ‘conquering’ characters like Viola requires more than just persuasion—it requires a display of overwhelming power.
Ada shows her growth from a mere soldier to a leader, using her past trauma from the Golden Count’s defeat to prevent a morale collapse in her current unit.
—
Lore And Worldbuilding Context:
The author uses the contrast between the grim aftermath of the tsunami and Viola’s bratty dialogue to highlight the ‘transcendent’ nature of high-ranking monsters who view war as a game.
The contrast between the girls’ ‘insanely hot’ appearance and their lethal magic is a common trope meant to balance fanservice with high-octane action.
