Volume 1 Chapter 8-2 The Last Night
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
This isn’t just true here — houses with a proper bath are pretty rare.
Long ago, people thought it was better not to wash their bodies too much. Even after that idea was proven wrong, bathrooms and bathtubs didn’t spread much. It’s like a leftover habit from back then.
Most people still get water with a wooden bucket and wash themselves by hand.
”Have you ever used a bathtub?”
”Yes, I have.”
”I see. Since I always wash right after using it, I just fill it with water and boil it.”
”Okay, I’ll fetch the water, Ms. Deena.”
I thought it was kind of a pain, but since skipping the bath wasn’t an option, I just dealt with it.
She wasn’t just throwing everything in there — she helped properly. Working together with a beautiful woman like that wasn’t so bad.
Back and forth to the well I went, filling the tub with water.
It was big enough for four people. I put a little extra water in just to be safe. I ended up drenched in sweat.
Of course, this wasn’t a cold bath — I had to build a fire next.
There was a stack of chopped firewood in a stone-walled room beside the bath.
I wondered if they bought the wood just for bathing.
I carried some wood to the stove and arranged it carefully to help it catch fire.
”Now, I’ll bring the fire scroll.”
”No, I’ll prepare the fire.”
I put my hand on the wood and whispered “Brace,” sending a little magic out.
With a faint crackle and a puff of smoke, a small patch of wood glowed red.
I blew gently, and a small flame started at my fingertips.
”Wow! Mr. John, you’re a magician!?”
”No, I just had a little chance to learn once. This is all I can do.”
”No! Even so, magic is magic! Amazing, Mr. John!!”
I laughed quietly inside.
This woman was way too excited.
For me, not being naturally talented with magic feels like a symbol of my limits. If she praised me too much, I’d feel like she was looking down on me.
People say I have a twisted personality — maybe it’s true.
Most people can’t learn magic without some connection or money.
From the point of view of common folk, it makes sense why some people dream of having magic.
While I stared at the fire in the stove, Deena came over and started throwing in small pieces of wood.
She smelled faintly of a woman — sweat dripped from her forehead, showing how hard she’d worked drawing water from the well.
Even though nothing special was happening, I felt strangely excited.
”With Mr. John here, I don’t even need to buy scrolls.”
”That’s true.”
She was indirectly telling me she wanted me to stay here.
It was the kind of thing a thoughtful woman says to lift a man’s spirit.
After what I saw with Elide earlier, I knew I could take it positively.
Could there be a chance?
But it could also cause trouble.
Still, I figured I’d check it out lightly.
”…Your face lit by the firelight looks beautiful, Ms. Deena. It feels like my heart is being cleaned,” I said.
”Well… you’re pretty good at this…”
Heh, she laughed.
I tried a cheesy line, but it felt normal between us.
I wanted to see how far I could push.
”But you seem like a heat haze—fleeting and ready to disappear.”
”That’s not true. But if you’re worried, do you want to try catching me? Just kidding…”
I laughed and stood up, telling her I was joking.
The fire was steady now, so we decided to leave it and go back to the dining room.
I was sure of it inside.
This one could be had.

After dinner, we had all bathed and were just sitting in chairs relaxing.
Adelina was doing the same, staring blankly and wasting time.
”Sorry to keep you waiting… about the room, you can use mine. My father’s room isn’t cleaned up yet.”
She must have just come from the bath. Her wet hair gave her a sexy look, and when I noticed her gown’s neckline, I felt an urge to push her down right there.
”Sure, that’s fine. But where will you be, Ms. Deena?”
”In my room. Hehe, how many years has it been since I slept with my sister?”
Elide, the younger sister, appeared behind me.
She had also just bathed. Her hair was still wet, and her glowing skin made her look innocent and radiant.
I wondered if I could sneak closer to Deena without Elide noticing.
I thought about a plan, but nothing came to mind.
There was nothing I could do except sleep.
If the sisters had separate rooms, sneaking in at night might have been possible, but since they didn’t, I couldn’t get close.
In the end, I went to the room lent to us with Adelina.
Even though we were traveling siblings, it felt weird sharing a room with a woman.
But since no other rooms were free, it was apparently okay.
With Adelina and the sisters in different rooms, I at least felt I could sneak some fun later, so I resigned myself.
It was a shame—I might have had a chance—but there was decent food and a comfortable futon. Anything more would be greedy.
The sisters probably never guessed I was planning to leave this country tomorrow and hoping for a one-night stand.
A few hours later, after saying goodnight to the sisters and lying in bed, I decided it was time.
I tapped Adelina, my fake sister sleeping beside me.
She quickly slid under the covers, pulled down my pants, and covered me with her mouth.
