Volume 2 Chapter 28 Let’s Think After That For Now
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
He glanced down at the paper and said, “Look… it says something about special rules.”
Another man nodded slowly. “This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this.”
The cold morning air was filled with soft bird songs that floated through the busy streets of the Imperial Capital. People moved around, busy with their daily tasks, but the mood felt tense.
A voice nearby whispered, “It talks about a very serious problem…”
”Yeah… it’s scary. What if it’s someone dangerous, hiding out here?” another voice replied quietly.
Worry showed clearly on everyone’s faces. Most people held papers like this one, as if sharing some important news.
He asked, “What’s going on?”
”You didn’t see the notice?” a stranger answered.
The paper. It was some kind of message being shared in parts of the city.
”I just woke up… didn’t know anything,” he said, rubbing his eyes.
”What? Sleeping now? Don’t you work? Where are you from?” the stranger frowned.
Though the sun was already high, it was still morning. It made sense that anyone still asleep wasn’t working.
”I work at night,” he said. “But what’s the problem?”
”They say you can’t be outside after dark now,” the stranger said carefully. “There’s someone very dangerous here.”
”…Special rules?” he repeated.
Those kinds of rules were for emergencies, when the city had to be very careful. It meant everyone had to listen and stay safe.
”Who is this dangerous person?” he asked.
”No one says. That’s why people are worried,” came the reply.
So, they weren’t telling everyone what was happening. It was probably about them… right?
The city knew someone had come inside. Soldiers saw it, and he even fought with someone. The princess probably knew now, maybe the emperor too. The big castle on the east side, visible from here, might be getting ready to act. Thinking of the worst, the possibilities felt endless.
Usually, it would make sense that it was about them, since it all started just yesterday. But calling them “very serious” and keeping it secret? That part didn’t feel right.
If this announcement was about them, normally the authorities would have put out a wanted notice to catch them quickly. They would share names, descriptions, and send soldiers on patrol. That’s what usually happened in the capital before.
But this time, it wasn’t like that.
There was only a curfew and a general warning about unknown intruders.
He didn’t understand.
Wasn’t this just making the enemy more cautious for no good reason? He couldn’t believe the Empire would make such a careless mistake. So what was really going on?
From what he could tell, it didn’t seem like the notice was about them. But if that was true, then what was the Empire’s plan regarding their presence? Honestly, he didn’t feel like Klock was officially on any wanted list right now. There were many patrols outside the city, but not once had he seen any soldiers inside the town today.
He thanked the old man who spoke to him, waved goodbye, and started to leave.
Just then, he caught sight of a man turning away, leaving a small opening. Quickly, he pulled out the bundle of papers sticking from his bag and slipped them into his coat. Then, he pushed through the crowd without hesitation and headed toward the abandoned church.
He wasn’t alone anymore. Maybe it was time to return and talk with Suzette again. Different customs might be part of this puzzle, and he wanted to learn more from her.
While thinking over the supplies he had gathered earlier that morning, he decided to go back to Suzette, who was waiting quietly after he promised to return.
* * *
”That’s the situation,” he explained as soon as he returned.
Most of the supplies were ready, so there was no rush. The town felt relatively safe, and many residents seemed less alert, which helped things go smoothly. The remaining questions were when and how to board the ship and how to read the movements of the Empire and Princess Hermine.
”From what I read in the notice, honestly, I can’t tell if we’re involved at all. People should be cautious, but what do you think? …Hey, are you listening?”
”Mmm… Hmm, I’m not listening. You told me not to,” came a soft, playful reply.
When he returned, he found Suzette sitting quietly on the bed, looking as calm as ever.
He smiled gently and sat beside her, letting the quiet comfort settle between them. This abandoned church on the second floor was their secret place—hidden, peaceful, and away from prying eyes. Even if soldiers suddenly appeared, they’d probably just think it was a couple hiding out.
He leaned closer, feeling the warmth of her presence. Last night had been troublesome, but now was the moment to rest and gather strength.
”Mmm, mmm, mmph…?” she made a muffled sound, caught off guard.
He reached his limit silently and released it gently near her mouth. Feeling she might pull away, he carefully held her by the horn to keep her steady, pressing softly at the back of her neck to make sure everything stayed safe.
He continued, steady and calm.
This was a new moment for them, and while she showed a little hesitation, tapping his leg and shooting him a sideways glare as if asking him to stop, he kept going with quiet determination. Soon, she gave in and accepted everything without resistance.
”No, that was good. Well done,” he praised.
He pulled away slowly, noticing the soft connection between them as her lips parted gently.
She covered her mouth with her hand, her expression tight as she looked around, searching for comfort.
He grabbed her horn and turned her to face him, looking down with firm but gentle eyes.
”Swallow it,” he said firmly.
She frowned but stayed quiet.
”Swallow it. If you don’t, I’ll do it again,” he warned softly.
Her frown deepened, clearly unwilling, but after a brief pause, she started moving her mouth, covering it with her hand. A soft moan escaped before she swallowed with a quiet gulp.
”Good job. You did well,” he said, praising her obedience.
He stroked her head gently, sensing some discomfort. Running his fingers through her fine hair, he tried to soothe her quietly.
She didn’t resist or push him away, but her sharp gaze said everything. Then, she started to cough lightly, struggling a bit.
As she coughed, her body moved gently. No matter how many times he noticed, her presence always pulled him in. He had touched her softly before, and now, as if drawn by some force, his hand moved back to her side.
He lifted and cupped her gently, wrapping an arm around her back as he settled beside her on the bed.
It was an odd feeling, but one that gave him a strange comfort and happiness.
”What are you doing?”
A soft, tired voice whispered in his ear.
Looking up, he saw Suzette with a weary expression, reaching for a water bottle from the supplies she had gathered. Her throat seemed sore. Seeing a quiet chance, he decided to gently touch her as much as he could.
”Suzette, spread your legs a little,” he said softly.
He moved his hand carefully. With one hand, he touched her gently, while the other moved slowly to a very private place. Suzette ignored him and took a sip of water but still parted her legs enough for him to reach.
He caressed her carefully, mindful of the pain she might still feel after everything from yesterday. It was strange to worry about her discomfort after what had happened, but he wanted her to remember gentle feelings, so he was careful.
”Suzette, I’ll make sure you feel good every day while you’re with me.”
”You’re only doing this because you want to. I don’t want this, so it’s not needed,” she replied quietly.
He lifted her gently, touching her softly and moving slowly with care. He watched her reaction closely as he tried to bring comfort, taking it slow and gentle.
”Um, do we really have time for this? We’re supposed to escape by boat today, right?”
She asked a good question. They were deep in enemy territory, and soldiers could appear at any moment. This wasn’t the time for distractions. But since she already knew about their situation, rushing might be more dangerous. There was no need to panic.
He ignored the question and continued softly.
He felt the wetness and responded gently, moving with care to soothe and comfort her. This was the kindest and most effective way to ease her.
Though normally quiet and serious, she showed signs she was familiar with these feelings, more than he expected.
He remembered something a woman once told him—that with certain kinds of care, parts of the body could change and grow over time. Suzette seemed to be that way.
”Hmm… hmm…”
She didn’t blame him for ignoring her question. When he looked at her face, she turned away slightly, breathing fast. Most girls didn’t like being watched at moments like this, and Suzette was no different.
Despite everything they went through yesterday, she endured quietly and accepted this today, showing signs she was used to these feelings.
Virgin or not, she wasn’t very strong against touch. Pain or pleasure could break someone easily, but she managed it well. If what happened yesterday had been much harsher, things might have ended very differently.
Even though she was hurt, he thought she might have kept refusing, at least with words. She seemed like the kind to argue back if she had the chance. But no, it seemed she already knew these feelings well enough not to resist much.
Well, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Maybe it even helped relieve some stress and was good for her health, he thought.
He felt a rush of emotion growing inside himself. There were many things they needed to talk about, but for now, he wanted to just hold her close. Seeing her like this made it hard to stay calm.
Suzette’s breathing grew faster as he continued softly. Her body was responding gently, so he carefully eased her down onto the bed, wrapping an arm around her back.
