Volume 2 Chapter 33 Aphrodisiac Poison
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Eh, Lady Hero?”
As she wandered through the castle halls, she suddenly ran into someone. A strong magical aura surrounded them, so she thought it might be someone connected to her master. But she never expected to meet the Savior of Humans herself.
”You are… if I’m not mistaken, Princess Lona of the Emperor of the Hundred Beasts,” the hero said.
”That’s right! It’s been a while!” Lona replied, surprised that her name was remembered. She returned the greeting with a shy smile, rubbing her cheek quickly to hide her nervousness.
The first time they met was back in Il Rasiella, Lona’s homeland. The hero had been traveling the world, even visiting the Beast Continent. During a formal audience with the Emperor, Lona and the hero had a brief conversation. It only lasted a day, but apparently, her name left a mark.
”Where are you headed at this hour? Training grounds?”
If the hero was here, her party members were probably close behind.
As if on cue, a group appeared: Oriana, a priest, called out, followed by Lona’s master, the magician Hermine, and the three Holy Knights led by Tiet, all with their own complicated stories. The four heroes stood together.
”Uh, it’s not training. I was looking for Elna…” Lona stammered.
”Elna? Are you playing hide-and-seek inside the castle again? You never tire of that, huh?”
”No, Master! I was just going to take a bath together!” she quickly corrected herself.
Since arriving as an exchange student, Lona and Elna often played hide-and-seek to pass the time. After a few rounds, Hermine called her childish, so they stopped most of the time. Looking back, Lona realized it was because she wanted to be more like her admired teacher—an adult.
Hermine was incredibly powerful, one of the world’s strongest magic users. When Lona learned she would study under her, both she and Elna were thrilled. Hermine was the ideal master for a magician, but there was more to it than that.
”That’s right. You’re not used to water yet, so it’s natural to need help. But someday, you’ll bathe alone. That’s an important step to becoming a true lady.”
”Yes, Master!” Lona responded eagerly.
Hermine swept her long black hair aside with a graceful motion and smiled. She was mature, beautiful, elegant, and held the highest place in the magical world. Her femininity was effortless, captivating everyone around her. That alone made Lona proud to be her student.
Hermine truly was the best as a woman.
”It’s getting dark, so I’m a bit worried. Well, I suppose I should help too,” Tiet said, stepping forward with a serious expression.
She seemed troubled by something, but Hermine warned everyone not to pry—it was a personal matter. Since Elna, who deeply admired Hermine, promised not to ask, Lona decided to respect that. Still, curiosity lingered.
”Then, shall we start outside—”
”Tiet?” Hero Anna interrupted, placing a hand gently on Tiet’s shoulder just as she turned to leave.
”I thought we agreed to discuss things first. Where are you planning to go?”
Her tone was calm but firm. It felt a little intimidating.
”She’s an adult now. It’s nothing to worry about if she’s out for a while. Honestly, these kids sneaking out at night is just a daily routine,” Hermine cut in, making a playful remark.
Tiet was trying to sneak out quietly, but she’d been caught.
”Come on, Tiet-Tiet, you need to say something before you leave! Since I heard you’re leaving the party, AnnAnn looks like she’s about to cry!”
”Oriana, please stop teasing her,” Oriana scolded gently.
Tiet, caught in the middle, sighed, “Yeah, I get it…” There had to be a reason for this. Lona’s curiosity grew, but she decided not to get involved.
”We have something important to discuss, so we’re heading out now,” Tiet said firmly.
”Ah, yes. Then… see you again,” Hero Anna smiled warmly.
”Yeah. Don’t stay up too late, and remember to take a bath,” Lona added with a small warning.
Aside from the bath reminder, it was hard not to stay up late tonight. After all, it was a reunion with Hero Anna. The conversation with Elna was sure to be lively, and tomorrow they would plan their visit together.
”Fufff… I’m proud I remembered Elna’s name!” Lona thought excitedly as she watched them leave, then began running down the castle corridor.
While jogging, she planned what to say to Elna and when to bring up the hero’s visit. Elna would be surprised, maybe even a little jealous she met the hero first.
Looking forward to the fun ahead, Lona followed the scent of her twin sister and dashed out of the castle grounds.
* * *
”A… Aaaah…!”
Elna staggered backward and fell hard onto the floor, landing on her hips with a heavy thud. She writhed silently, clutching her chest, her breathing shallow and painful.
What was happening?
She had tried to urinate on him, but in anger, Klock had thrown poison instead. Most poisons needed to be swallowed to take effect—it was a reckless move fueled by rage. He had hoped a sharp-nosed Beastkin would smell the poison and back off, but things had clearly gone wrong.
”A… Gah, Aaaah…!”
The sounds of her suffering came from behind him. Maybe Klock’s poison was stronger than expected, able to affect through skin contact. If he was going to rebel, this was his last chance. His body was battered, but he still had one desperate move left.
”…Kuu, Kurāre…!”
His throat tightened as he muttered the chant. Speaking aloud triggered the healing magic he’d stolen for Suzette. A small surge of energy gathered naturally, beginning to mend his body.
The injuries healed rapidly. Though there were no open wounds, his nervous system, fried by her electric shock, slowly started to recover, letting him move again.
He hadn’t expected to use that healing magic here. Opening and closing his hands, he felt the normal strength return. The physical damage had been light and was repaired quickly.
This must be the power of healing magic. It’s incredible, but it also shows how dangerous lightning magic can be. Even a light shock can fry nerves and leave someone as helpless as if they were seriously wounded.
His foggy mind cleared little by little, and he regained control.
Once he knew he was almost healed, he prepared to stand. There was no pain, no weakness left. He turned quickly and took a fighting stance.
Elna lay in front of him, clearly poisoned and unable to attack. He smirked. If he was going to escape, this was his only chance.
”…This is bad.”
He thought about turning his back and running, but hesitated when he saw how much worse her condition was than he expected.
What kind of poison was this?
It had to be a paralysis toxin that worked through skin contact—or so Klock assumed.
Elna’s mouth opened wide, her body trembling and convulsing slowly like a landed octopus. She let out a weak, breathless sound, drooling as she stared blankly at the ceiling. She looked like a helpless victim of poisoning.
”Hey, is this really okay?”
Was she going to die? Seriously?
He had wanted her dead earlier, but now, seeing her like this, he felt an uneasy worry.
As he stepped closer, a sharp, sour smell reached him—she had soiled herself.
Her face was dreadful—completely lost in agony.
He remembered she said she was thirteen. A girl that young shouldn’t look like this. Just moments ago, she was so confident and full of life, but now, after a small touch of poison, she looked like she was dying.
Damn it, Suzette. What poison was this?
If just touching it caused this much harm, swallowing it would be instant death.
At first, he thought the poison was meant for self-harm, so this wasn’t entirely unexpected. But if she couldn’t die quickly, she would suffer terribly. Judging by how badly she was suffering now, it was cruel beyond words.
When someone chooses to die, they want to do it with dignity. No one wants to die in such a pitiful state—covered in drool and shame.
What should he do now?
Should he just leave her and run?
Normally, running would be the best option. The outside was probably swarming with enemies. Using her as a hostage to escape might work too.
If he didn’t act now, she might die. The more he thought about it, the more uncertain he became.
She was an enemy. Yet, she was just a young girl with a future ahead of her. Should he save her, or leave her to die?
”Ah, ah… ah…!” Elna gasped softly.
”Huh?” he blinked, confused.
While he hesitated, Elna’s behavior suddenly changed.
She stopped struggling, lowered her hands between her legs, and began to move them gently. Then, carefully, she slid a finger inside.
”…What?” he froze.
The moment her finger entered, Elna’s hips twitched sharply. Without pause, she pushed in a second finger up to the base, moving them slowly inside.
Soft wet sounds came as she shifted her fingers, as if searching. Her hips twitched with every motion, and clear moisture appeared around her fingers, filling the space.
What was she doing?
Elna had started touching herself right in front of him. At first, he thought she was dying, but this sudden act left him baffled. Ignoring him completely, she continued moving her fingers with growing urgency.
”Ah…” she whispered quietly.
He understood now. It wasn’t a paralytic poison. It was an aphrodisiac.
She was overwhelmed by the poison’s strong effect. If this were a battlefield toxin, it made sense—Elna was so affected she forgot about fighting. That explained her sudden, unexpected behavior.
What a vile poison. If it spread here, it would ruin everything. Maybe it affected Beastkin or young people more strongly.
An aphrodisiac. There was nothing to do but leave her be.
Though confused by this strange scene, he calmed down after figuring it out. If the girl before him were more mature and graceful, Klock might have been distracted, but since it was tiny Elna, he could stay focused.
”Elna’s soft breath filled the air.”
The girl was clearly under the poison’s influence. He didn’t know if she had any experience, but with such a powerful effect, she was caught in it whether she wanted to or not. If this was her first time feeling this way, it would leave a lasting impression. He felt a twinge of pity, but remembering her earlier attitude, he decided it wasn’t worth worrying over.
There was nothing he could do. It was unfortunate, but he would leave her and run.
Should he take her hostage? No, even though she was a kid, she was still a nuisance.
Someone this young was definitely not worth his attention. No curves, small and thin—smaller than Adelina—she didn’t even seem like an adult yet.
But watching her so openly affected right in front of him, he noticed his own body reacting. His heart raced despite himself.
He didn’t know the whole situation, but the alarm had gone off—other soldiers could arrive any moment.
His body was ready, and there was a girl right here to take. But now was not the time for distractions. Getting caught like this would be a disaster. Besides, Suzette was waiting for him back home. No reason to risk it here.
He needed to get out quickly. His restless mind could wait for a safer place, a softer embrace. This brat was useless to him.
He turned his back on Elna. After all, they were enemies. He shouldn’t waste sympathy on the defeated. Maybe he’d thought too much because of her youth, but now that he’d decided, it no longer mattered.
He hurried down the stairs to escape.
Then, suddenly, a pounding heartbeat echoed through his body, a rush of heat spreading everywhere.
”…Huh?”
What was this?
His strength drained instantly, and he collapsed to his knees. His hands and knees hit the floor, but it didn’t hurt. Why was he on the ground? His thoughts dulled as an odd warmth spread through him.
”No way…”
He realized what had happened.
He’d used healing magic earlier, but without it, he would have fallen sooner. Maybe the effect was delayed because of that, or the amount had been too small.
In any case, the cause was clear—poison.
”Ugh…!” he groaned quietly.
