Volume 6 Chapter 14 A Man Who Receives Bed, Money, And Body From A Girl
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Mmm~, mwah!”
Morning light filtered into the cave, slanting through the entrance in soft golden beams.
Birdsong echoed from beyond the trees. Klock lay spread out on a bed of stone and grass, his hands tucked behind his head. The makeshift bedding was uncomfortable, but not enough to keep him asleep.
”Mwah, lero-lero, nyah~, mwah~, mmm-zzz…”
Something stirred him—a sensation difficult to ignore. Heat pooled low in his stomach as awareness returned. Blinking open his eyes, he glanced down.
A young girl with tousled golden hair knelt beside him, her face focused in a way that startled him. She looked up, lips parted slightly, eyes bright with effort.
”Mina…” he murmured.
The sight alone was enough to jolt him awake. Her cheeks flushed, and her hands were steady. Whatever she thought she was doing, she was doing it with surprising dedication.
”Mmm… are you getting close~?” she asked, her voice teasing.
Klock sighed, brushing his hand through her hair with a tenderness he didn’t expect. She reacted with a knowing glance, then leaned in closer, undeterred.
Despite the strange situation—or perhaps because of it—he found himself relaxing into the moment, surrendering to her attention. For all her inexperience, Mina was strangely confident.
In the haze, other images flickered through his mind—faces from past encounters. A woman who’d once been both maid and spy. A companion bound by different ties.
If no one knows, it doesn’t count as cheating…
The thought came unbidden. But rather than dwell on it, he let go of doubt. A rush followed, heady and intense.
* * *
”So this is Kakeura Village?” Klock asked, shading his eyes.
Clouds stretched thin across the sky, casting the village in a muted, morning glow. He surveyed the unfamiliar scenery with mild interest.
”Mina’s house is that way,” she said, pointing.
Compared to Rizan, the village was livelier, nearly town-sized. Wagons trundled by, locals bartered at stalls, and children dashed through narrow paths. It buzzed with motion.
Passersby threw curious glances in Klock’s direction. Some slowed their pace, others turned to whisper. Being a stranger, especially a young man, made him stick out more than he liked.
”Hey, hey, Sir Klock!” Mina called brightly.
”Huh?”
”If you’re feeling frisky, you can always ask me~.”
He blinked. Her words hung in the air, loud enough to turn a few more heads.
Smirking, Mina put a finger to her lips, tilting her head coyly. She let out a little kiss and smiled.
The memory of the previous night—and that morning—flickered behind his eyes. She’d offered, twice, and he hadn’t refused. Despite their relationship being nothing more than ex-hostess and customer, she acted with remarkable confidence. It almost made him laugh.
”How old are you, anyway?” he asked, eyeing her skeptically.
”Eh? Oh, um, this year I’ll be…”
Her voice trailed off, eyes darting away. Klock raised an eyebrow. Her behavior was too bold for someone that young. It felt… unfair, somehow.
”Do you always act like this around men? You might get dragged into an alley one day.”
She pouted. “But the only man around is you, Sir Klock… or are you worried about yourself~?”
Misinterpreting his concern, she fluttered her lashes. Despite her flirtation, her grip on his sleeve was firm—she wasn’t letting him go anytime soon.
At their age difference, though…
Friends with benefits might be the limit. He didn’t see a future. He wasn’t a teenager anymore, and she wasn’t someone he could build a life with.
”Here we areー. Come on up!”
She led him to a modest stone house—one among many identical ones, uniform to the point of being forgettable. The materials marked it as Human Continent construction: sturdy but plain.
Inside, the room was sparse and smelled faintly musty. No decor, no frills—just the bare essentials.
”It’s easy to get a house around here,” Mina explained. “There are lots of vacant ones. I’ve saved a little from selling monster fur.”
She crouched down and pulled something from under a loose floorboard: three copper coins. Silently, she pressed them into his hand.
”…Really?” Klock asked.
Mina looked away, cheeks tinged pink. Her earlier flirtatious air was gone, replaced with something softer. The gesture was genuine.
”I’d like to show you around,” she said. “But first, could I bring a friend?”
”A friend? Why?”
”She knows a merchant. I want to ask if we can catch a ride to Boorinel.”
That made sense. Klock had no bags, no money. Even with Mina’s coins, travel supplies were out of reach. Walking was impractical; horseback would be better.
After Mina left, Klock stayed where he was. The quiet room offered little distraction. He yawned and leaned back.
She definitely likes me.
He remembered tipping her once, back when she’d looked so small and lost. Maybe she remembered that moment more than he did.
His thoughts drifted to her former employer—the madam, Irina.
On the Human Continent, young women often became tools for survival. Used by both genders, sold and bartered. Even among their own kind, mercy was rare when coin was involved.
Klock didn’t hate the madam, but if they met again… he wouldn’t mind turning the tables.
”I’m home~!”
The door banged open. A bright voice rang out, followed by another.
”Hello~!”
”…Eh? You’ve got company!”
”…Huh?”
The second girl’s eyes widened at the sight of him. She was unfamiliar, but spoke like they’d met before.
Beastkin ears flicked. Definitely not locals. Klock squinted, trying to place her.
”Don’t you remember?” she said. “Yuuba. The adventurer’s town. We met in an alley.”
The memory hit. That time with Ada, the wild adventurer. He vaguely recalled splurging on a Beastkin companion—with Ada’s money, no less.
Now, standing in front of him, were girls from that same night.
Beside him, Mina frowned.
”…So Sir Klock saved Riko and Clea?” she muttered, eyes narrowing.
* * *
”Hmm, interesting. So Mina was also bought by Klock. Yeah, that makes sense,” Roko said.
The older sister of the dog Beastkin pair sat cross-legged on the floor. Her name was Roko, if he recalled. The one who had let him have her for silver three months ago wagged her tail as she spoke.
”The name’s Roko. Pleased to meet ya! It’s a pleasure to meet such a kind gentleman like Mr. Klock!” she said cheerfully.
Her name was similar to Riko’s, and they were both dog Beastkins. He wouldn’t mistake them, even though they weren’t his, since one had black hair and the other pale brown.
”Humans wouldn’t pay so much just for a Beastkin’s company, would they? I’m truly grateful to have encountered Mr. Klock,” Roko said.
Sitting next to her, Clea pressed herself flat against the floor. She was the one who had given him a free favor before. Soft-spoken and more polite than her sister, he only remembered an erotic image of her. He might have been able to convince her to go further for another silver coin.
”Hey now, Sir Klock only gave you money because he liked you, didn’t he? Or did he just go for any Beastkin girl?” Clea asked quietly.
Mina sat between them, tail twitching in annoyance, lips curled downward. She didn’t like that Klock had paid for those two. From her attitude, she seemed to think he did it because he liked her.
”…These two were… well, I felt sorry for them, so I invested in them. As for Mina… I invested because she’s cute, you might say,” he explained.
He honestly had no memory of it, but it was probably just a whim. That’s how it is when you waste a lot of money. You make impulsive decisions.
Mina showed her dissatisfaction, and the dog pair exchanged glances, falling silent. Now it was clear. She’d been so aggressive because she thought he was an eligible bachelor. That explained his boldness.
”Uh… so, you want to ride the carriage, right? I’ll ask, since you’re his guest…” Roko changed the topic and touched on the main issue.
She had friendly relations with a merchant’s daughter and would ask her to intercede. But the merchant might demand a troublesome errand in return—or simply refuse.
Either way, accessing that information was reward enough. It was only because of the dog girls’ kindness that he was here at all, despite paying for their services.
”So I heard you lost your luggage and money? Were you attacked by monsters?” Roko asked.
”Huh? No, it was a dragon living in the volcano. HI was unlucky enough to fall off the carriage during the fight,” he said carefully.
The dog girls froze like statues. After about five seconds, they dashed out, shouting.
That was understandable. The volcano wasn’t far. If a dragon lived there, there’d be a commotion. He’d forgotten because Mina didn’t seem to care.
* * *
”Hey, hey. Even though Sir Klock said he’s not married, does he have a girlfriend?” Mina asked.
It was evening now. They couldn’t leave today and had to spend the night at Mina’s place.
He had expected this. He’d just been introduced to the Village Head and endured a long explanation about the dragon, which delayed contact with the merchants until tomorrow. They had no choice but to stay in the village tonight.
”Ah, Mina. Since this is bothersome, I might as well say it,” he said.
Parting ways with the two dog girls who once worked in the red-light district, he found himself alone in the quiet house with Mina. In her eyes, he saw determination.
He guessed what she had in mind. If he didn’t clarify now, it might cause resentment later.
”I have a girlfriend, so—”
His words stopped abruptly.
”Eeh?! You have a girlfriend?!” Mina’s eyes widened.
Had she assumed that because he wasn’t married, he had no interest in women? Her small voice trailed off. “But I—”
Come to think of it, he’d kept quiet about having a woman while letting her do those things. Thinking calmly, it was rather cruel. Both last night and this morning, he hadn’t been thinking straight.
Maybe he’d grown too used to women serving him.
”Well, you see, my woman is very broad-minded. She’s okay with just doing… certain things,” he said.
That wasn’t a lie. It was true that Riko and the little rabbit didn’t mind.
”What about Miya? Hasn’t she said anything?” Mina asked, voice trembling.
The air turned chilly. She flattened her cat ears, face on the verge of tears. The earlier sexy atmosphere vanished. She looked like a little kitten abandoned.
She had a point. Even if Suzette forgave him, Mina might not.
”Ah…” he trailed off.
Her disappointment weighed heavily. This wasn’t good.
Maintaining his relationship with Mina was crucial; any cracks could disrupt today and tomorrow. If she kicked him out in a rage, where would he sleep?
He couldn’t keep Mina around because of Suzette, but losing his bed for the night was a problem. Though Mina might not kick him out, she could fly into a hysterical rage. He had to keep her calm a while longer.
”Sorry, Mina. It’s just that… you’re too damn cute… I couldn’t help but think of you as my woman…” he admitted.
”…Eh?” she whispered.
After a moment’s hesitation, he played his trump card—a move suited for when caught cheating. It was a risky temporary measure that only affected the third party when the deception surfaced, and left him with no option but to run eventually.
”It’s not your fault, you see. You’re the one who tempted me, Mina. How could I resist when you showed off like that?” he teased.
”…Is it really my fault?” she asked softly.
”Yeah, it is. Come here.”
He grabbed her arm and pulled her close. Mina straddled his legs, which were folded cross-legged.
As he petted her, her tail and ears perked up. He slid his hand from her neck to the collar of her shirt—and into her clothes.
”Ah!” she gasped.
His fingers found the familiar spot easily. He felt for the small bump and gently scraped it, stimulating the area.
Apologies, Suzette. He’s off to corrupt a minor—but this isn’t cheating. It’s necessary. He’d rather sleep on a futon than on rocks and weeds. Please forgive him.
He quickly justified his actions.
It was probably better than chasing after Riko and her friends. Besides, it was a numbers game.
”…Mnh… So, Sir Klock wants Mina too, huh? …Mnh, then Mina will be second,” she murmured.
”No, he wants Mina to be his special friend,” he said.
Holding her close, he felt the small bump harden beneath his fingers. He crushed it gently with his fingertips, caressing and rubbing.
Mina gave him an unsettled stare, as if asking, What are you talking about?
Ignoring her, he tickled her neck with his other hand, teasing.
”Well, they need to take things step by step, don’t they? To get his other woman to accept Mina, the fastest way is for him to take responsibility,” he said.
He implied that if they had a child, he’d take responsibility.
Mina leaned in, her small breasts pressing against him. Her expression was indescribable, but she didn’t resist.
One more push.
He hugged her close and pressed his lips against hers.
He tried to make it a lover’s kiss—gentle—while sliding his free hand under her short skirt toward her.
He smelled the dried scent unique to cat Beastkin in her nose as their lips parted with a soft kiss.
Her expression melted quickly.
”Will you take responsibility if Mi’s belly grows?” she asked.
”Yes,” he said quickly.
She shot him a suspicious look. He offered a swift, fresh smile.
”All right… fine. I’ll be your special friend first,” she said.
Really? This was too easy.
He scored a small victory inside, having secured temporary peace and a place to sleep.
She was Beastkin. Outside her heat cycle, she wouldn’t get pregnant easily. If he avoided her heat, it was almost like not dating at all.
”Are you sure? Even if it’s just a special friend?” he asked, feigning caution.
”No. Sir Klock, you want me, right? Then okay. I want you too. Though I’d rather be your lover… but if you have a girlfriend, I understand,” she said softly.
She was so sincere it made him want to cry. He felt a little guilty.
Well, if he didn’t stop by this village again, the relationship would fade. She was young. Time would change her mind soon enough.
He pulled the thick cloth wrapped around her waist—the obi.
Exposed was a modest, flat chest, perfectly described as petite.
The sunlight caught the fresh redness at her tips, unblemished.
Mina, who hadn’t eaten dinner yet, suddenly—
”—!” she jumped up energetically and lunged at him.
