Volume 7 Chapter 6 Klock’s Chosen Method
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Dad and all my kin are dead. Dead and turned into that monster’s flesh, I think.”
Amid the outdoor clamor filtering in, she spilled it like an overflow.
”Necromancer. Some heretic who controls the dead, right? I heard about my dad’s fate from the Oni Cat.”
”Yeah. That forehead scar was probably your dad’s. The size was way off, though.”
The fox and wolf princess sat on the bed, exchanging words. The catfight had left the fox’s hair and clothes disheveled, while the wolf emerged unscathed and lively.
Klock sat in a chair a bit away, the adult in the room. He listened silently to their talk, gazing out at the tent’s exterior like it was someone else’s problem.
”So that monster really was made from the missing folks’ corpses.”
”No other explanation. Everyone thinks so.”
He’d heard the Wolf Princess’s dad had strong beast traits, with a full wolf head from the neck up. Their beauty standards aside (recognizing that as handsome), the distinctive scar pointed to the monster’s head being her father, the wolf king—circumstances made that the prevailing theory.
Killed and stitched into a monster. A necromancer could pull off such an abomination, they figured.
And the victims weren’t limited to her dad.
”That thing used Dad’s voice. Even the way he talked was identical.
He was definitely in there. And it ran on arms from tons of people. Everyone who died in the hundred holes probably got turned into its flesh.”
”Your whole family’s wiped out, then.”
”…Yeah.”
Kuzuha drooped her ears, visibly deflated. Her usual piercing gaze lacked its edge today.
”…So, why rush into marriage now of all times?”
Klock asked.
”No reason. I’m scraping by for tomorrow’s meal. Just playing the cards I can to survive.”
”Even so, pick a better guy? If it’s that rough, I’ll ask Cianie for support.”
”What’re you saying? I couldn’t impose on the Hero like that.”
The shelter was too drafty for a princess’s living. Wind slipped through the tent entrance, fluttering her long hair and highlighting Kuzuha’s irritated expression.
”She’s fated to fight the Demon Lord, right? No time for a fallen princess like me. If you’re her lover, show some consideration.”
”That’s fair.”
Kuzuha brushed off the concern. The Wolf Princess frowned at her thorny words.
Her refusal was expected for Klock. She’d played a big role in his rescue—enough merit to ask the hero for aid—but Kuzuha hadn’t approached Cianie.
Pride wouldn’t allow charity. That fit his image of her.
”The demons are on a roll now. If it comes to war, humans might lose. Power dynamics could shift big time.”
”That’s needless worry. No matter how strong the Demon Lord is, they won’t beat the Hero.”
”Yeah. Demons crown their strongest as Demon Lord, right? Against Cianie, born a demigod, it’s no contest. She instant-killed even the Four Heavenly Kings.”
She was literally otherworldly. No matter how powerful, a being born with a finite life couldn’t touch her.
If the Demon Lord’s Army attacked, Klock figured Cianie would unilaterally smash them. In this world, nothing could match her toe-to-toe. The Demon Lord’s Army wasn’t a rival—it was prey to be judged.
”Four Heavenly Kings—like that goldfish princess? Well, if it’s fine, whatever. Anyway, leave me alone. I don’t need your concern.”
”Oi oi, don’t be so cold. We’re escape buddies, right?”
”Shut up—what buddies!! All I remember is the hell you put me through!!”
Sure, the r**e and double-teaming were rough, but honestly, the later disasters made it feel trivial.
Teasing her now with “Your body felt great” would probably just get him ashed.
”Even if your kin died, you survived thanks to Klock. Can’t say it was all hell.”
”Yeah. Gotta thank him for that. But the r**pe cancels it. I saved you from the Oni Cat too, so how about handing over your head as change?”
Kuzuha turned away with a sullen pout. Klock laughed it off casually.
A brief silence fell. Kuzuha pretended to be angry, but her usual spark was missing.
Her poorly hidden gloom made Klock and the Wolf Princess exchange glances.
”…Hey, Kuzuha. Seriously, come stay with us. You don’t really wanna marry that guy. You helped me through tough spots—I’m grateful, and if you need aid, I can—”
”I said I don’t need it.”
”She turned away with a pui. Well, if you insist, our place works too.”
The Wolf Princess muttered that, but Kuzuha ignored her.
She wasn’t listening at all. Irritated by the attitude, the Wolf Princess’s eyes narrowed piercingly.
Kuzuha might be self-destructive. Alone, her emotions probably couldn’t keep up with her situation.
In this state, anything said could backfire. She might need time to cool off.
”…Ah, right. You’re doing a wedding ceremony? When?”
”Next week.”
”Fast. Crazy rushed.”
”They said better to do it before opposition builds. Keep it small-scale too.”
The speedy setup made them exchange looks again.
Normally, a nation’s princess wedding would be grand. Beast Country customs varied by species and environment, but “next week casually” seemed unlikely.
Her in-laws probably disliked taking in a ruined clan’s princess. Quickie wedding to avoid pushback—sloppy, prioritizing facts over fanfare.
”Doesn’t seem sane. With your Abyss monster feats, you could aim higher. Selling out Karakas to wag your tail for dogs? Not like you.”
”Persistent, huh. Whatever—it’s my life, my choice. Worry about yourself.
Speaking of, what possessed you to… do that with her? The Hero’ll kill you.”
”Hmph. No need for your worry. My belly’s already got his kid. We’ll be family with the Hero by next year.”
The Wolf Princess countered with a straight punch. Kuzuha’s face froze in shock at “kid.” Totally unexpected. She gaped, alternating stares between them, stunned.
”Why so surprised? Politics is like this.
Crush the weak if they block you. Bare your belly to the strong. Common sense, right?
I won’t say more on your choice. It’s your first solo politics as an independent. All that pride, zero confidence—classic Princess Kuzuha foolishness.
I’m heading back to Belandi soon. This guy’s the Hero’s husband and mine—he promised to get it back for me. Once family, no beastkin will bare fangs at me, and Wolfkin’s future is secure. Unlike foxkin.”
The wolf princess smirked, rubbing her belly. Clearly provocative phrasing, deliberately boastful to rile Kuzuha.
Her words were exaggerated but mostly true.
Reviving Wolfkin vs. dying foxkin. The widening gap stemmed from leadership differences.
For her species’ future, Kuzuha should learn from the Wolf Princess.
”What’s this? Payback for before? Kicking me while I’m down—nasty personality.”
”…Yeah, maybe. You’ve ditched even trying to rise. You’re no equal anymore. Not even royalty soon—my words are too much for you.”
The Wolf Princess glared. Kuzuha avoided her eyes.
A tense air hung between them. After a brief pause, the Wolf Princess turned her back.
She clicked her tongue, urging Klock to leave. Her expression brimmed with irritation.
Kuzuha’s words had clearly struck a nerve. A low growl rumbled from her throat.
”I’d never think of revival. After all, I’m the one who got everyone killed.”
Prompted by the Wolf Princess, they started to go.
As Klock reached for the tent flap, the Fox Princess murmured.
”…Huh? What do you…”
”I got everyone killed!! I killed them!!
Because I’m stupid, useless, not even allowed to fight. I resented that and left them behind!! I wanted them to regret not relying on me, betraying me—I thought a little pain would teach them!!”
The fox princess hung her head.
Her ears flattened sideways, hiding her face as her voice rose.
”I’ve regretted it forever. I told them to stay in that Abyss-influenced spot, remember? I knew staying there meant death, so why did I think it was okay to leave them?
When I heard no one was found, I casually wondered why. As time passed, I realized the weight of what I’d done, got this awful feeling. The rescue teams said they searched repeatedly but found no one, and my chest felt like it was ripping apart. That’s when I finally understood—I killed them.
It’s my fault they’re dead. I might as well have murdered them. Rising up with my kin now? Impossible!! What face could I possibly show to call them?”
A single tear fell.
It hit her knee, and then they wouldn’t stop.
”I did something terrible—”
She covered her face with both hands, bowing low.
Sobbing with wet, sniffly sounds, she trembled from her back.
”You’ve been carrying that from back then…”
”Sorry, I said too much. Just go home for today.”
”No, that was the right call then. We didn’t know the hundred holes’ true nature. Prioritizing escape with the able-bodied—”
”Get out!!!”
Her scream bordered on a wail.
Ears flattened more than he’d thought possible for such a strong-willed woman, she hung her head weakly.
Klock shut his mouth, and the Wolf Princess fell silent too.
She’d been tormented. Her decision wasn’t foolish— the heavy guilt crushing her was why she couldn’t rise.
He pondered what to say, but the distance, the wall between them, kept him quiet.
They’d fought side by side against monsters. Circumstances aside, they’d even been intimate.
Yet she cried in a place so far away.
The Wolf Princess tugged his sleeve wordlessly.
They had to go. No words fit right now.
After a moment’s hesitation, he turned to leave.
”Sorry. Thanks for worrying.”
Her voice was softer than he’d ever heard, the thanks piercing like a blade from behind.
* * *
”When bad stuff happens, people wanna attack something. So they blame someone else. It’s instinct. Not about being mean— we’re wired that way from the start.”
Klock slumped onto the sofa, his exhausted body going limp.
A sniffing sound came from nearby.
”But if you decide it’s your fault, that attack turns inward. Can’t stop ’cause you gotta lash out. Regret’s just that going on forever.”
”You understand regret pretty deeply. Got experience like that?”
”…Who knows.”
If he hadn’t done that unnecessary thing back then, Cianie might not have died.
What replayed was that day, that moment—his life’s biggest failure. Trying to save Gina, he’d lost everything.
He’d regretted plenty. Everyone had youthful mistakes, but his was massive. Without it, no thieving life, no losing family. Cianie, his sister— no one gone.
This regret would never fade.
Probably the same for Kuzuha now.
”Hmm… black, I think.”
”See!! Kuro, you cheater!!”
Meina, who’d been sniffing every inch of Klock from her seat beside him, declared black. Elna, who’d been standing like a sentinel, pounced.
”Why!! You’ve got Hero, Elna, and Meina!! Why touch another girl!!? Isn’t Elna enough!!? Idiot idiot idiot!!”
”Ahh, annoying annoying. Not in the mood right now.”
The white cat draped over him in a face-to-face straddle, protesting at zero distance. Elna filled his vision, but Klock brushed her off casually.
”And of all people, during RosRos’s heat!! Skipping Elna to make a baby is unbelievable!! Ugh, idiot!! I hate you, Kuro!!”
”Oh well. I like you, though—too bad.”
Her nyannyan yowls assaulted his ear. She chomped his shoulder with a kabu. In retaliation, he reached for her rear, kneading the soft flesh with both hands in a guni guni massage.
Savoring the girl’s plush cheeks, he deadpanned, “But I like you though~” She stopped biting, resting her chin on his shoulder instead.
”If you really feel that way, start with Elna! Just so you know, my heat’s next month. Remember that if you’re interested.”
Her murmured voice was soft.
He vowed mentally to ban cats next month. Meina might be risky too as kin, so maybe a trip with Suzette somewhere was an option.
The high-pitched beast girl voices echoed through Cianie’s house.
The living room overrun by wolves and cats hosted the usual five: Klock fresh from return, the tagging-along Wolf Princess, Meina, and the cat sisters Elna and Lona.
Klock hadn’t come home last night—a morning return with the Wolf Princess naturally sparked interrogation.
With three police-cat girls around, hiding was impossible. The wolf girl’s marking scents were detected instantly, leaving them fuming.
Tonight might turn into a cheating trial. He needed to deflect somehow, but right now, Klock had zero motivation left.
”Ahh, no energy for this.”
At his listless mutter, the cats exchanged glances.
”…You’re hung up on that KuzKuz stuff, huh. I get it’s tough, but it’s unavoidable. KuzKuz decides her own life. More importantly, RosRos! Kuro, you planning to be the wolf’s groom?!”
”Nah, keeping my thing with Klock quiet for now. In exchange, he’s helping with my homeland return.”
The beast girls yapped wanwan nyanya in discussion.
Hooking up with the hero while knocking up some princess? Normally a huge deal, but it wasn’t registering now.
”Sir Klock, you okay?”
”What’s with the soulless look… That worried about her? KuzKuz isn’t bad, but I get blaming herself. She’s pitiful, right? But best to leave her be for now.”
”I figured Princess Kuzuha’s misfortune would be amusing, but it just pisses me off. Still, nothing we can do. It’s her clan’s head’s decision. No room for outsiders.”
They offered comfort without him saying a word.
He lounged with his head on the sofa back, vibe unclear if he was even listening.
The white cat and wolf girl locked eyes.
”Well, at least persuasion’s a bad idea. She’s stubborn as hell. Body changes freely, but inside’s rigid.”
The black cat chimed in.
”Ah, Kuzuha and foxkin have transformation as a racial skill, right?”
”Yep yep. Though Master’s unique skill’s way more precise. Theirs is sloppy—can’t even hide tails or ears. Ah, Nyan Law Corps has something like transformation arts too, yeah?”
”…Lona. Weren’t we told not to blab about people’s unique skills?”
Elna’s interruption made Lona clap her mouth shut in panic.
Ah, so the legendary mage Hermine had a transformation unique skill.
He mentally noted it. Seemed underwhelming for a great mage, but super useful for a regular like him.
”Transformation, huh. Could sneak into all sorts of places with that.”
”Sneak? Sir Klock, somewhere you wanna go?”
Klock lifted his head suddenly.
The Wolf Princess, lounging on the opposite sofa, glanced over. Meina turned to face him, and Lona, seated a bit away at the table chair, perked her ears toward Klock.
”…Might as well kidnap her.”
The words slipped out smoothly.
Lucky Wolf Princess, Unlucky Fox Princess
For a split second, the living room fell silent at the man’s declaration.
In the quiet, the outside bustle echoed clearly. This lively town was always noisy during the day, no matter where you were.
”Wolf Princess… next week, let’s crash the wedding venue. Help me out.”
”…That’s suddenly violent. Kidnap— you mean abduct the bride?”
”Yeah. Fun, right?”
The Wolf Princess sat up in surprise at Klock’s words. Meina blinked wide-eyed, Elna tilted her head as if to say what are you talking about, her face a mask of confusion.
”…You serious? Princess Kuzuha holds a nation’s princess title. Stealing a bride-to-be—what that means, you get it? This’ll blow up big, no avoiding it.”
”Who cares, we’ll handle it. Need more helpers too.”
”Hmm. If we’re doing this, rope in the Harpies. It’s Princess Kuzuha, after all—dealing with the dogs while grabbing her’ll be tough. Get Harpies close to the dogs, infiltrate the ceremony. Control the event from inside. Keep the raid small and elite.”
”W-wait a sec. What’re you two on about??”
The white cat princess leaped off Klock. She planted herself between them across the table.
”Basically, wreck the marriage. It’s obviously a bad move with the dogs, but she’s too stubborn and dumb to listen. If talking’s useless, make it physically impossible—that’s the idea.”
”Eh… but going that far? You that close with KuzKuz? And why kidnap the bride on the wedding day? …It’s like a prince from a story…”
”Huh, sounds fun. She’d be so shocked. Tie her up, threaten her—make her beg for her life while pissing herself.”
”Hey, Wolf Princess… got any of those magic-sealing bracelets you used on Kuzuha in the hundred holes left?”
”Just got back.”
Mid-conversation, the door opened with a gishi creak, revealing the shopping-returned maid in her poised stance.
As if they’d known, the wolf and cat girls didn’t react. Only Meina pattered over to take her bags.
”…Mr. Klock, you’re back. Where exactly were you wandering last night?”
”Had some errands. Anyway, Suzette—thinking of raiding Kuzuha next week. Got any advice?”
”…Pardon?”
He tossed the dangerous topic at the just-returned Suzette, dodging last night’s fling. The girls here were all elites.
But combat wasn’t everything. Her ex-spy experience and knowledge would be key.
The target was a foxkin princess—master of yin-yang arts, an unknown magic form. Without solid prep, they could get countered hard.
He pitched the spur-of-the-moment Kuzuha abduction plan seriously. Slyly sidestepping his Wolf Princess fling, he plotted steps to truly doom the fox princess.
Suzette and Elna frowned in confusion at the sudden talk and Klock’s earnest face. Lona and Meina looked a bit thrilled.
Throughout, the Wolf Princess was insanely cooperative. She probably hated Kuzuha’s fate too. Her words played it as reluctant, but her whole body radiated eagerness.
He pushed the discussion forward, securing everyone’s help without letting them refuse. Wolf Princess and Meina would assist; Sis Elna stayed back due to her position risking blowback; Suzette sat out to cover for the unpredictable Cianie.
And so, the Kuzuha kidnapping plan kicked off.
Later, they asked the Harpies for help too. Klock figured Cattleya might balk at the zero-gain op, but she nodded eagerly. Said she loved that kinda thing, and Charlotte was oddly hyped, her face flushing red.
As frontrunners for the next empress, Harpies leveraged their status to barge in, offering wedding help to the dogs. Silke reportedly tilted her head but agreed, letting Harpies infiltrate security successfully.
If the kidnapping worked, it’d be a Harpy failure on guard duty. They promised to cover that somehow—pure verbal agreement, no plan, but Klock shoved the issue later.
Prep went eerily smooth. They spent the remaining days acting normal, waiting for the big day.
It was a massive deal, but he felt no real resolve. Maybe ’cause he knew the target—felt as casual as picking up a big-assed girl in town.
Thinking on it, letting someone else claim those huge tits and ass pissed him off. Her smug attitude grated too—had to make her cry at least once to settle it.
…Well, fighting alongside her hadn’t been all bad.
Memories from the hundred holes, the cat town—they felt like distant past now.
The wedding day arrived in no time.
