Volume 8 Chapter 20 Succubus’s Temptation

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”Why… do you know me?”

The girl’s voice cut through the silence like a dropped pin.

There was an elegance in the way she spoke.

It was a far cry from the Kispe he had known earlier—a mesmerizing, seductive aura now surrounded her.

”No, well… you don’t seem entirely human. Are you Demonkin?”

Kispe smiled, while Suzette’s face tightened with tension.

What were they talking about? Were they acquainted? It seemed possible, but at least Kispe appeared to be a stranger.

”…I see. I never thought Sir Klock would have a Demonkin among his allies. Betraying your own kind, siding with humans of all people… don’t you feel any guilt?”

”…Not particularly. I merely decided someone should take responsibility.”

 ”Responsibility…? Ah, I understand now.”

She laughed softly, covering her mouth with her hand.

It was impossible to imagine the innocent, delicate girl from before. Kispe’s smile aimed at Klock radiated an unsettling, almost intoxicating charm.

”Men are helpless creatures. Even as a hero’s lover, a single girl cannot satisfy them entirely. So, your decision as a girl rather than as a demon was entirely reasonable. In fact… for a Demonkin, a rather commendable choice… ♡”

Klock felt left behind, unable to follow their conversation.

He couldn’t fathom Kispe’s transformation, and even Meina tilted her head, her ‘Nyan?’ expression breaking the tension.

Being around Meina was strangely refreshing.

”Sorry… I have no idea what’s going on.”

”…Sir Klock, that woman is a Succubus.”

 Klock froze.

He spun around, but Kispe remained composed, smiling calmly.

 ”…No way. She’s… a succubus too?”

”No, she is not. She is, in fact, a representative of Succubus, sitting in one of the eleven seats of Gasthira, a high-ranking officer of the Demon Lord’s Army.”

Suzette’s entire body radiated tension. Finally, Klock understood her panic.

 He looked back at Kispe.

She was still smiling, glancing at him sideways, her expression composed. No, it was the expression of someone surveying the world from above.

”The seventh seat of the Council of the United Kingdoms. Younger sister of the twin lords of the eastern frontier of the Demon Continent, Troiké. Princess Ashura, Lady Kispe. Queen of Incubus and Succubus, one of the most feared figures on the Demon Continent.”

 ”—Princess Ashura. This… is her—?”

He vaguely remembered hearing something. Too much had happened recently, and he had completely forgotten. Perhaps Viola had explained it to him, but it had slipped entirely from his memory.

He should have remembered at least the name. Even if he had, he probably would have dismissed it as coincidence.

She had seemed so fragile, so unthreatening, that even now he could not see her as dangerous.

”Princess Ashura… such an extravagant title is hardly befitting of me.

By the way, may I ask you something? He seems unfazed by my gaze… what countermeasures did you take?”

 ”…Huh?”

Gaze. What had that been again?

Klock furrowed his brow. He had no memory of the details about Princess Ashura. Two of the Demon Continent’s three great beauties were Viola and Kispe. Viola had a Cursed Eye, he recalled. Did Kispe? Honestly, he had forgotten the explanation from the Beast Continent entirely.

”Regrettably, I do not know. I am unfamiliar with your abilities.”

”…Oh? You’ve never heard of the Cursed Eye of Enchantment?”

 ”…Cursed Eye of Enchantment…?!”

Suzette’s gaze widened as she turned toward him.

A Cursed Eye, like Viola’s—possessing a rare power. Yet it seemed ineffective on Klock. Why? He didn’t know. It brought back an unsettling feeling, reminiscent of the black waters of the Abyss.

”Is that so? Could it be the hero’s doing? Yet it’s hard to imagine she would act so toward her beloved…”

 ”…What do you mean?”

”Well, Sir Klock… you seem covered in curses from head to toe.”

 Curses… covered.

The words sent a shiver down his spine.

”When I looked at you, it felt like trying to pour water into a full cup. No space to add a new curse, yet here I am, attempting to enchant you. Perhaps there are other women thinking—or cursing—about you when the hero isn’t around. If so, the hero’s husband is quite the sinful man… ♡”

He couldn’t understand her meaning, yet the memories resurfaced. He recalled being forced into a remarkably ominous marriage. Perhaps this was connected.

He also vaguely remembered someone repeatedly asking, “May I curse him?” Could she herself be the cause?

”…Why did you approach me? Were you trying to deceive me with seduction because your gaze had no effect?”

He regained his composure and stepped back, glaring at Kispe.

Her hair fluttered in the night breeze, yet she exuded undiminished allure. Her smile, unchanged, seemed peculiarly erotic.

”Heh… deceive you? I intended to become your lover… you know?”

”…Huh? What are you saying? Your goal is the hero. Don’t overcomplicate things.”

 ”I speak no falsehoods♡ I meant to make you mine… ♡”

 The room fell silent again.

Klock, as well as Suzette and the others behind him, were at a loss for words.

”Stop talking nonsense. You’re part of the Demon Lord’s Army, aren’t you?”

”…Sir Klock, please, call me Kispe.”

 ”…Huh?”

”If you do not call me that, I shall not respond.”

Then, she suddenly turned away, adopting a coquettish gesture reminiscent of the girl she had been moments before.

Klock frowned. Kispe noticed, curved her lips, chuckled softly, and wrapped herself again in an alluring aura.

Is this what a succubus girl is like?

She seemed to wield every motion to toy with men.

 ”…Kispe.”

 ”Yes♡”

Her voice sounded like a delighted response to a lover’s call.

He wanted to direct his hostility at her, but felt his resolve unravel.

”…You are part of the Demon Lord’s Army.”

”Yes, but is that a problem?”

 ”…It’s nothing but a problem.”

”No, not at all. A girl’s feelings cannot be hindered by mere status. Seeing the man who risked his life to protect me from monsters, I wished to be held in his arms. I wanted to be with him, regardless of our opposing races… ♡”

 The pure, black-haired girl smiled.

 Her charm seemed utterly genuine.

Yet it couldn’t be. She was lying. After all, she was a succubus.

”I am still a girl. My heart can flutter for a man. Even if we are of different races, even if our nations are at war, I want to be yours… ♡”

The divide of races… on that point, he could say nothing. Suzette was a Demonkin too, an enemy race at war, just like Kispe.

But Suzette and Kispe were fundamentally different.

The demon maid of his household was no longer part of any military structure.

 ”Sir Klock… please—will you make me yours…?”

 ”Stop it!!”

Just as Kispe stepped forward, Suzette came running from behind.

She grabbed Klock’s clothing and pulled him away.

”All words from a succubus are poison. You must not listen.”

Separated from Kispe by Suzette, Klock tried to maintain distance.

Succubi were creatures of deception. He knew that, yet recognition alone wasn’t enough. Looking at her face, it seemed almost like a misunderstanding.

 ”Sir Klock…”

 ”…Stop it.”

 ”Please, take my hand.”

 ”Shut up.”

”I will do anything for you, Sir Klock… ♡”

”Trying to seduce me, huh? I know you’ve got that life-draining ability of yours.”

 ”Yes, that is true.”

”!? You’re planning to kill me with that, aren’t you?!”

”No… absolutely not. I wish to be yours, Sir Klock. When that day comes, I hope to… but I have no intention of killing you.”

Suzette pulled Klock even farther away. Kispe did not move. She smiled gently, looking straight at him.

”There’s nothing strange about this, right? Being intimate with the one you love is only natural. Forgive me for speaking so openly, but I wish to be with you, Sir Klock.”

Her words ignited a fire deep within him.

”Why the puzzled look? Don’t you want to be with Kispe?”

 He knew he shouldn’t reply.

Seeing her true nature, he realized she intended to feed off him. He must not engage further.

”Forgive my shamelessness, but I wish to be led into darkness by you, to be commanded to take you into me. To have my underwear removed, to feel your desire strike me. To spend a night at an inn with only you, Sir Klock, imprinting me with your presence. I want you to fill my life with yourself, utterly and completely.”

 Her eyes saw everything.

She understood the consequences of her words from the start. Hiding or resisting was useless.

Kispe’s provocative smile met him, yet her gaze wasn’t one of equality.

This was not a woman luring a lustful man to bed.

It was a small predator enticing a prey with the promise of desire, trying to trap it in a delicate cage.

”So what if I’m a succubus? Men will indulge a girl’s whims. Allow me to be spoiled. Allow me to tempt you. Let my small desires be forgiven in the embrace of a man’s strong chest♡”

If punishment were necessary, she would accept it gladly.

”Forcefully strip my skirt. Overpower me with your manly body… ♡”

She said it all without moving. Her gaze alone infiltrated his mind.

 ”I’m… I’m the hero’s lover.”

”Yes. So please, put the hero aside for a moment, and love me above all else♡”

Boldly, she declared her intent to steal him.

A beautiful girl, smiling gently, as if to say: I’m cute, so don’t be mad.

 ”Forgive me, I’m just a selfish girl… ♡”

Kispe stuck out her tongue playfully.

The gesture was unbearably cute, radiating elegance.

She looked up at Klock with a flirtatious gaze and asked softly.

Klock didn’t know what to do.

 Perhaps she wasn’t truly evil.

As he hesitated, ready to step forward,

 ”Mm—?”

 ”…Oh?”

He was forcibly turned, lips brushing hers.

The faint scent of soap came from Cianie’s products she had brought with her.

In other words, the maid they lived with had intervened.

”…We need to escape. Keep distance from her.”

 ”Eh? Ah, right.”

”She sends poison with her eyes, spits venom with words, and immerses you in it with her smile. You are enchanted. Your resistance is real, but probably not complete. For a moment, you are captivated by her.”

 Klock realized the truth.

He had believed the Cursed Eye was ineffective, but she had intentionally declared it to lull him into complacency.

Turning his back to Kispe, he felt the recognition of her as an enemy swell within him.

This was Klock’s true emotion. While facing Kispe, he had felt unusually conciliatory.

”Escape to a crowded place. No man can fight her. Ms. Meina, support me. I’ll take the front.”

 ”Understood!!”

 ”…Oh my.”

 Suzette stepped forward.

Meina arrived behind, crouching into combat stance.

Kispe remained motionless. Smiling, she watched in silence.

”Why, Sir Klock? I adore you. Do you treat a girl who loves you this way? Believe me. I—Kispe—is yours alone… ♡”

 Her words were unbearably unsettling.

 Attacking her stirred only guilt.

Pointing a blade at such a delicate girl felt insane.

She who adores you… could she be genuine?

Now, Klock and his companions were about to make a grave mistake.

”Damn it. Don’t underestimate me—I’ve dealt with plenty of women before.”

He raised his middle fingers in his mind.

No way would he be toyed with by one girl.

 Facing backward, Klock started running.

 ”Yaa-hoooo~~! Long time no see—!!!”

From behind, Kispe’s voice tried to stop him.

As he tried to break free, a familiar, overly high-pitched voice came from above.

The last voice he wanted to hear.

”Tonight, for the revenge match, a spinning grand entrance!! The super beautiful girl the world envies, VioVio, returns!!”

A black cloak spun and landed.

As the cape fluttered, a woman with otherworldly eyes blocked Klock’s path.
