Volume 9 Chapter 18 The Mate Hunt, First Come, First Served
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
When Alice refers to herself as “Atashi,” it means she’s in bunny-girl mode.
When she says “Alice,” that’s her succubus mode.
They’re not so different, usually—but when she’s angry in succubus mode, it’s terrifying.
So watch out.
Yeah, no doubt—she’s in succubus mode now.
Wings and all.
This is bad. She’s really, really mad.
No matter how tough KuzKuz is, that ability of hers is too much…
Damn it. I have to do something—!
Klock was being dragged somewhere, vines coiled around his body, lifting him off the ground as he was carried deeper into the castle.
It really did look like a castle—stone walls, stone floors, cold air that smelled of dust.
Candleholders lined the walls, though none were lit.
Through the windows he could see a perfect blue sky—it must’ve been the first floor.
But in this world of dreams, floors and directions didn’t always mean much.
”Ms. Melfi… where are we going?”
No answer.
Her face was blank, doll-like, showing him only her profile as she walked ahead.
”I’m worried about Alice,” he tried again. “Those people are really strong. We should help her.”
He framed it as if he and Melfi were allies of Alice, still pretending to be under her charm.
Even so, she didn’t respond.
Whatever shallow trick he tried, it bounced off her like nothing.
Without looking back, she strode down the corridor, her steps echoing on stone.
They turned a corner into a darker hall—no windows now, only the flicker of candles casting long shadows.
A staircase descended ahead, leading underground.
Where was she taking him?
Maybe the stairs led outside the castle.
Or maybe through another dream boundary, back into the forest.
But when they reached the bottom, he saw it.
A cell.
Iron bars, a single small room caged in metal.
No furniture. No bed. Only bare stone and a ceiling lost in shadow. The only light came from the candles in the corridor outside.
She stepped in first.
”You’re… going to imprison me?”
That was the only explanation.
This time, it wasn’t like being taken to Alice’s cozy mansion.
Now that he’d been captured again, she meant to keep him from escaping.
If Alice had lost him once, Melfidis wouldn’t risk it twice.
Maybe she was going to leave him here and return to help Alice.
If he wanted to resist, now was the time.
But he had no weapon. No plan.
What could he do?
He was worried for them, but—no. He’d have to trust them.
If KuzKuz and Gina were working together, they could break through Alice’s defense.
He still had one move—Bandit (Plunder). He could steal her skill.
But his magic was limited; once a day, at best.
And Melfidis might already be out of magic herself. Stealing from her now might only buy him a few minutes.
No. He’d save it for the decisive moment.
If he wasted it, he’d regret it later.
”…Ms. Melfi?”
She guided him inside the cage. He expected her to step out and lock him in from the other side.
Instead, she stayed inside—and the door clanged shut.
From the flowers at her feet, vines slid through the gaps in the bars and twisted outward.
A soft metallic click echoed.
She had locked the door—from inside.
”…Huh?”
Now they were alone, sealed in the cell together.
Was she… planning to guard him here until it was over?
Melfidis turned toward him, her expression calm, almost gentle.
A faint smile touched her lips.
She’s smiling…
An uneasy chill spread through his chest.
Klock instinctively stepped back until his shoulders hit the wall.
Melfidis moved closer.
Her hips swayed, her full chest rising and falling with deliberate motion.
She advanced until the air between them grew heavy with her scent—a faint, sweet perfume.
”Um… what are you doing?”
His heart pounded.
If she had been human, he might not have been this afraid.
But she wasn’t. She was a succubus—a flower-born creature beyond human understanding.
From her feet, a vine slithered forward and coiled around his ankle.
Her hand caught his arm.
She drew him in, pressing him against her soft body.
Klock froze, panic clouding his thoughts.
He tried to resist—but he was already too late.
The world dimmed.
Something closed over him, shutting out the candlelight.
Petals.
Flower petals spread from Melfidis’s feet, curling around them both until they were swallowed whole.
”Wait—Ms. Melfidis—!”
The petals sealed, enclosing them in a bud.
She held him tight inside it, her fragrance thick and sweet in his lungs.
Damn it. That’s what she was after…!
This scent—it’s a charm.
Every succubus could charm the opposite sex.
Alice, Athena, Celes, even Lily—all of them used scent.
One breath and your mind blurred; another, and desire took over.
The sweetness melted his thoughts.
In that closed space, the air was saturated with her. He could feel his senses being rewritten.
His awareness drifted toward her warmth, the softness of her chest.
No… he was already charmed. Completely.
The sealed petals trapped her scent, filling the space until escape was impossible.
Like an insect caught in a flower, he was hers now.
Heat pooled in his lower body.
Without meaning to, he pressed against her, moving slightly as if struggling—yet the motion only rubbed against her more.
”Hah… hah…”
The vines around him loosened.
Her arms withdrew, and he fell to his knees.
He looked up at her.
Even in the dim light, he could see Melfidis standing above him—her expression calm, her figure outlined in soft curves.
Between her raised breasts, her face showed no malice, only a strange, tender stillness.
He was free now. He could try to escape the flower.
The thought flashed through his mind—but his body didn’t move.
Melfidis stood silent, watching him.
She didn’t strike. Didn’t speak.
Only looked, serene and patient.
And that stillness made it clear—resisting her was meaningless.
She was the predator here.
And she knew exactly what happened to males caught in her grasp.
She merely needed to wait. For her prey to willingly leap into her grasp.
It wasn’t a prison cell… This was a training chamber. A place to recondition him, to make him understand…!!
By this point, he was already under her control. Everything rested in the palm of her hand. No young man could resist a busty older woman like her.
Driven by feverish desire, the boy lunged at her. He clung tightly to Melfi’s thighs and ravenously devoured her most intimate place.
”So sweet…”
Like sipping the nectar of flowers. He sucked greedily, making wet, slurping noises, as desperate as a nursing babe latching onto her breasts. He breathed in her scent, lapping up the flowing fluids.
The castle’s underground was a quiet space. Unlike the upper levels where sounds carried, here all was muffled. Even if a battle raged above, it wouldn’t reach this far.
Within the cell, the only sound was the boy’s lewd slurping as he feasted on her core.
”I can’t hold back anymore…!”
The boy stood, unable to endure the tightness in his loins any longer. Urgently, he pulled down his pants.
His shaft, swollen and throbbing, was pushed against her. With the certainty of rightful claim, he thrust inside without hesitation.
”Ahh…!”
He buried himself deep within her, standing before her with fierce urgency. Wrapping her slender waist in his arms, he pumped his hips—hard, relentless. The tight grip of her passage sent a shudder through him.
He buried his face in the valley of her breasts, gasping for breath as if drowning. Finally, he was inside her. A blissful, dazed expression spread across his face.
”Forever…”
”Haa… haa… Huh?”
”I’ve had my eye on you.”
Melfidis spoke, her voice cutting through his haze. Startled, Klock lifted his head. He hadn’t expected her to speak.
”I’ve been waiting for my chance. Alice and Athena were in the way. Now, there’s no one left.”
”…Ah.”
Athena’s warning echoed in his mind: *Beware of Melfi and the others.* Only now did he grasp the true meaning of those words.
His hips moved of their own accord—no, he was moving them himself. The sensation was so instinctual, he hadn’t realized it was his own doing. A tingling pleasure crept up his spine.
”Melfi’s been after me all along…!!”
Melfidis smiled softly, her eyes gleaming with lust as she watched the boy thrust wildly.
Melfidis had been biding her time, waiting for the perfect moment to take Klock for herself. Her occasional visits were all part of her plan. With Alice and the others out of the way, her path was clear.
They weren’t a united front. The Succubi of Crimson Spire each had their own desires.
Klock, once entangled with Cianie, was now pursued by Hero, only to be pulled away by Alice. He had been rescued by Kuzuha and Gina, who joined forces with Hero’s team. It was a battle between Hero’s faction and the Succubi.
Melfi had been waiting to outmaneuver them all. Her heart was set on claiming Klock, on making him her exclusive source of sustenance.
With a powerful thrust, he released himself. His seed spilled onto Melfi’s belly as she tightened around him, milking his essence with loving greed.
”I love this…”
”Mmm… Yes… Yes…”
”I love you. Love you. Love you.”
Her whispered words of love reached his ears even as he climaxed, stoking his desire anew. He groped her plump hips, drawing her closer as he continued to thrust, his seed flowing endlessly.
The overwhelming pleasure clouded his mind. He clung to her breasts, suckling desperately. Her nipples tasted sweet, like honey, fueling his arousal.
Her breasts were a trap, designed to drain him dry. He was to become her nourishment, a part of her. This was what she had wanted all along.
This was the end.
Yet, there was no despair. His fading consciousness accepted his fate. He surrendered to the pleasure, devouring her core as she declared her love.
* * *
”Gina. The rabbit Succubus, Alice Lau—didn’t you say her ability was the Cursed Eye of Illusion?”
”My apologies… It seems I was mistaken. When she took my brother, she used illusions, but it was likely a bluff.”
Klock and Gina had assumed Alice’s ability was illusion, a common association with demon hares. Their mistake had led to misinformation. Perhaps Alice had outsmarted them.
”Illusion and enchantment—similar yet vastly different,” Kuzuha remarked.
”Very different. Illusion manipulates sight, creating false images. Enchantment is closer to mind control, a more powerful ability.”
The red-eyed rabbit demon stood before the door, axe in hand, her gaze fierce and unyielding.
”Thieving fox. How did you infiltrate Crimson Spire?”
The bunny girl demanded, her voice sharp as her gaze.
”Brazen, aren’t you? I’ve heard thieves hate being stolen from, even as they steal from others. Seems true. You’re like a wild rabbit raiding a farmer’s field.”
Kuzuha didn’t bother answering the question, retorting with scorn. Alice’s brow furrowed.
”Don’t be ridiculous. Alice is Klock’s lover now. They’re living together. Breaking into someone’s home and kidnapping them—you’re nothing but a villain.”
”Living together? Sounds more like imprisonment to me. And I’m his wife. I’ve come to retrieve my missing husband. What’s the problem?”
The rabbit and fox began their verbal sparring, a prelude to battle. But the atmosphere shifted abruptly when the word *wife* struck the rabbit girl like a blow.
”W-wife…?”
”Yes. We’ve exchanged vows, and I’m carrying his child.”
”Huh…?”
Beastkin in mating season supposedly have a 99% success rate. But that’s between Beastkin, and who knows how accurate it is. It’s not unheard of to fail. Kuzuha’s claim was likely an exaggeration, but Alice couldn’t be sure.
”Well, Alice will—”
”Even with rabbit ears, you’re just a Succubus. All you’re good for is preying on others. If you want to play house, do it somewhere else. I don’t know what you’re so serious about.”
Kuzuha dismissed their relationship as a game. Alice growled in frustration, while Kuzuha smirked. Beyond her role as an enemy of Hero’s faction, Alice’s attitude screamed that of a rival in love.
Kuzuha clicked her tongue, realizing something. “No matter how much you talk, you Succubi are nothing but whores.”
Succubi could technically bear children—male Incubi sire offspring with other races, and female Succubi, being biologically female, might have the same capability. But their essence-draining nature would kill any seed, making children impossible.
”…Whore…?”
Alice trembled, clearly enraged. Even a Succubus girl would bristle at such an insult. Kuzuha, meanwhile, smirked faintly.
”By the way, you asked why I’m here. Your mistress forcibly dragged him into this world.”
”…What?”
Kuzuha had briefly mentioned this earlier. Gina, silent until now, looked at Kuzuha. Neither Gina nor Klock knew the full reason Kuzuha was here.
”If I die, he dies.”
”…Huh?”
”In sickness and in health, till death do us part. We’re bound by a soul contract. So when he was pulled here, I came with him.”
”Huh? What kind of contract is that…!! That’s straight-up curse magic…”
”That’s what being a wife means. Of course, it requires consent. This contract proves he accepted the responsibility.”
Kuzuha struck a smug pose, clearly taunting. Alice gaped. Using curse magic to bind a marriage was unheard of, even for Succubi.
”So, between us, bound in body and soul, and you, who merely drain his life—who’s the real lover? You’re just a kidnapper. You have no place in our relationship.”
Kuzuha flashed a malicious smile and flipped her middle finger—an unusually crude gesture for a princess. She mimicked her husband’s behavior, marking her territory.
”Cheater!! You did that sneaky bonding…!!”
”In the battle for a mate, it’s always first come, first served. If he’s here, so am I. It’d be the same anywhere. Give up. No matter where or how much you scheme, I’ll always take him back.”
”Ugh… ughhhh…!!”
Alice stomped her foot, a childlike tantrum that made her ample chest bounce wildly. Her anger seemed to signal an attack, but instead, she glared through tearful eyes.
”Baka…”
”…Baka?”
”BAAAAKAAAAAAA!!!!!”
The bunny girl screamed at the top of her lungs, fists clenched, tears welling up.
”I hate you!! You’re just a fox!! A weak predator who only picks on weaker targets!! Get eaten by an eagle!!”
”Oh? An eagle would go for the rabbit, not the fox. Predators always target the weaker prey.”
The defeated rabbit’s howl turned into a soul-shattering roar. The fox smirked, confident in her victory, ready with a retort.
But Alice didn’t stay to hear it. She dashed out the door, running full speed.
”Uh… she’s gone…”
Princess Kuzuha, driving off a Succubus with words alone. Gina stood in stunned silence, unable to process the sudden turn of events.
”I could’ve beaten her in a fight, but she’s no big deal. Weakling.”
”Really? Her Cursed Eye seemed quite dangerous.”
”Cursed Eye relies on sight. If you don’t look, it’s harmless. And her physical abilities are nothing compared to wolves or cats. To Beastkin, she’s a pushover. You Succubi might struggle, but to me, she’s small fry.”
”I see. I’m truly glad you’re here.”
With the situation resolved, Kuzuha and Gina quickly headed in the direction Melfidis had gone.
